New Hampshire state police have confirmed that there has been a 50-100 car pileup on I-93 northbound near the town of Ashland.
The accident occurred near Exit 22 of the interstate at around 10:30 a.m. ET Friday morning.
The highway has been closed north of Exit 24 and traffic is being detoured.
Weather forecasts warned of icy roads and snow squalls; local police said that these conditions contributed to the crash. Multiple injuries have been reported, but no fatalities.
Traffic was heavy, likely due to drivers heading north for a ski weekend. There are 22 ski resorts located within 30 miles of Ashland.

"Lt. Jerry Maslan, a state police spokesman, said that many vehicles on the road were driving in excess of the 75 mph speed limit." Unbelievable! 75 mph or in excess of 75 mph so says the State Police spokesman..Are you kidding me? Gee..... I wonder how this stuff happens? By looking at the road in the pictures why not drive a 100 mph? What a bunch of dumb Xss'ss!

This is a prevalent problem in the east coast. Especially on the NYS thruway - not enough state troopers - people are too reckless with 80-90mph speeds

75MPH in the snow... LOL. WTF do they expect. At least down here in the south when it snows nobody has snow tires so they're all just spinning their wheels at 65MPH, actually doing about 4 MPH, keeping it pinned until they veer off into the ditch.

Combine that snow with the generally aggressive driving habits of many Northeastern drivers, plus the "well my BMW X5 has AWD, I am friggin' UNSTOPPABLE" mentality, and it's no surprise.
