As was mentioned already, I too am making a very nice living as L/O. I enjoy considerably more freedom this way than I ever had as a company driver. One size does not fit all, it's pretty easy to lose sight of that when we come to the point where we think our way is the best way. I rejoice with the enthusiasm demonstrated by the OP and wish him Godspeed!

Are you sure you guys read everything? lol

At the end of the term you have the OPTION to buy the truck OR at ANYTIME during the lease you can buy the truck if you get financing for it.
I already know at the end of 3 years I can buy my Kenworth for $59,000 and have this in writing.
Your rep should know all this info just talk to them.. I have what I need in writing and so should you guys.

Thanks everyone for the kind gestures. I'm just trying to find what works for me and my family. Right now going with Schneider is a great option!

A small family owned company out of Coos Bay, OR. Thomas & Sons Distributors. There's only 150 or so trucks in the fleet. I run the 3 western states and that's it. Just the way I like it.

So what after 1 year makes you think you can be successful as an owner operator? Especially when you want to come on board during the slowest time of the year. You say freedom but you put all your eggs in a basket when buying a truck. I'm not saying you can't do it. I'm just trying to understand your or any of the others mind set. When taking such a risky leap.

Yes it is risky, but when comparing the risk to the reward you will never have what you want by going for easy low risk ideals. For me the reward from being an O/O outweighs the risks.
