I remember talking with my SFI rep when I still leased, and she told me that they were no longer offering the "catastrophic failure" warranties on used trucks. At the time I leased my 2011 Cascadia, it covered major failures not covered under warranty (emissions equipment, unfortunately, was not one of the items on that list, going back to sadwar's ordeal). That is all to say I believe SNI is moving away from leasing older, out of warranty equipment and will probably trade them before it runs out. You'll probably be stuck with leasing a truck with the full trio of goodies: DEF, DPF, and EGR.

Yeah sorry, I was going to buy from someone else not SFI. They won't touch me till I'm at a year. I was hoping to get a 2010. Something around 50-60k

Since the truck has to be 2005 or newer I assume a glider kit is out, or am I wrong?

    I paid $68k for a 2011 with 467k miles. I have a DPF, but I don't use DEF. I didn't go through SFI, went to Lone Mountain.

I hear all these scary dpf stories! Starting out is hard enough. That scares me.

that's in part why I got a new truck with a big payment because it's new and has a warranty.
I'd lose my mind if I got a used truck that was in the shop all the time costing me thousands upon thousands while the truck sits and I'm making no money.
Yes I know people aren't going to say new trucks aren't perfect but all the new parts and a warranty certainly helps.
I can budget myself for a big truck payment.. not as much for an emissions problem that's gonna cost be $15k to fix along with sitting in the shop for a week.
