Probably not ... but I suspect he is learning some hard lessons ... that or he's buried under a snow drift somewhere.

I know for a fact sitting and waiting for the best load will catch up to all of us.

Yep, and this time of the year it's really bad with the slow freight, because all it takes is sitting a little too long, and boom all the loads out of the area are gone because other drivers weren't going to sit around and took what they could get. I find myself doing more sitting waiting for the exact load I want, because I don't have that $1100/week payment. I found it to be much easier to stay moving, even if it wasn't exactly the load I wanted, back when I leased. This week is a perfect example, I had planned to head out Tuesday, but there was just NOTHING on the board that interested me. I kept looking to Frito in Charlotte to come up with something... but they didn't, and stubborn me just kept waiting... an waiting... and waiting. Ended up not finding a load to book until today, and it doesn't pick up until Thursday. It pays good, but it is a bit out of my comfort zone going some new places with live loads on both ends. Not exactly my cup of tea but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and passing up a lightweight, good paying load because it's not exactly what I wanted is just stupid. So, no biggie because my fixed expenses are so low that even if I only get this load and maybe 1 or two more in for the week I'm happy. But in the position of leasing, it would be a real tough week to make work.

It will be interesting to see what plays out with SNI's choice board this year. There is definitely more competition now than there was this time last year. Sometimes I worry they are bringing too many drivers on but not making sure that the available freight increases as well. Honestly, some beancounter at SNI would probably want it that way - it would force more drivers to haul the cheaper freight just to keep their head above the water. SNI appears to have lost contracts with some of the customers I really liked pulling freight for, and that sucks. The reason I still pull trailers for SNI is because of the sheer amount freight they have and the ease of "use" of the whole system, from booking loads, to drop and hook, etc., etc. The rates are not the greatest, and yes working with a mega can suck at times, but overall I have been happy. However, if they continue to add on more and more drivers to the point where booking freight becomes more of a competition than just a daily routine, I'll take my truck and go elsewhere. We'll just have to wait and see what happens over the next few months.
