OP your OTR trainer SHOULD take time to teach you the rest. I say should because he/she probably won't.skyviper73 Thanks this. -
Washington State also makes you 3 types of backing. Straight, Alley Back, and Off Camber.
You will work on your backing during your 2nd week of training with the instructors and your 3 weeek with your TE. Backing takes practice and patience. -
Georgia as well as Florida require 3 backing maneuvers as well
mickimause Thanks this. -
North Carolina also requires 3 backing maneuvers....not parallel though
mickimause and ncmickey Thank this. -
I never understood why I had to learn how to parallel park a trailer for the CA test...never had to do it outside of the test in the real world and don't really see the practical application of it
amiller Thanks this. -
Ohio has straight and either alley dock or parallel backing.mickimause Thanks this. -
Whatever the case, NO skill is entirely useless. You might be at a shipper or receiver and need to perform a similar maneuver to avoid running over something on the way in or out. Basically, you are demonstrating your ability to put the trailer where it needs to be. Why? Because that's where it needs to go, and as a driver it is your job to put it there.mickimause and mickeyrat Thank this.
