Delivered to flutes in Indianapolis today. Arrived 0720 for 0740 appt. I was the third truck in line behind 1 schneider company truck, and 1 IC. Parked just out from the docks is a "Big M transportation driver" and driver #1 is having a little difficulty backing up with that truck there. As all this is going on, I'm checking in. The receiving clerk tells me he's already tried waking the driver up 3 times with no luck. So, I walk by the truck and knock politely..... no truck moving, no grumbling, talking , etc... I knock a little harder, same thing. I decide I will knock one more time pretty hard. (at this point I'm beginning to be genuinely concerned for the driver) This time I finally see the truck rocking. I wait a second, and the curtain opens revealing one fine specimen of a man. :biggrin_2559: He rolls down the window, and I say "hey, receiver was trying to wake you up, he needs you to move and check in". Guy says nothing, rolls the window up and returns to his sleeper. (I presume to get dressed). About 15 minutes later I'm sitting in my truck on the phone with my girlfriend and I see this moron strolling across the parking lot spinning a hammer around in his hand, coming towards my truck. I tell my girlfriend to hang on a second and I open my door. He starts waving the Hammer at me. "Did you have fun waking me up?" Feeling rage starting to well up inside of me I bit my teeth, and calmly told him "Nope , wasn't looking to have fun, the shipper couldn't get you up and you were in the way". What cletus doesn't know about me is that I dont respond well to threats. He told me I better be careful, and raised the hammer. What Cletus also didn't realize is that my fire extinguisher had been removed from it's holder. He was about 1' back from my step, and I had already drawn an imaginary line about 6" closer to my truck. If he had crossed it, my hand to the bible cletus was going to get a blast of fire extinguisher, and then catch the blunt end of it across the head. By the grace of god/ stroke of luck.... whatever you believe in, he suddenly turned and walked away without serious incident. Not going to lie... my blood is still a little hot right now.

I'd of met him half way from your line so he would've been at the 6 inch mark and seen what he was really about. But I'm a little Ole fella so I'd of probably not.

I don't take well to threats either..I probably would have said (you would look awfully funny with that hammer shoved up your @@@) or I would have gotten my @@@ whooped. May be the latter, but oh well LOL.

Just wait till his face is level with the bottom of your door and give that door a good kick outwards

You handled it well. I've worked with drivers that would have been on that guy like a rabid orangutan. People would actually have sympathy for the hammer wielding driver when it was over. One driver I worked with did a long stretch in Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary. Went in when he was 18 and when he came out, that was one guy you didn't want to "disrespect."
