Hello everyone. I am starting my orientation on Monday, April 20th in Green Bay. While looking into this program I found a ridiculous amount of information on this forum from people like DFO, Sadwar, Tennman, and so many others. As my way of paying it forward, I plan on posting about my experiences driving for Schneider as a L/O on the choice board. I plan to primarily drive in the Midwest, although I am realistic enough to understand that I will drive where the freight is. The area of the country I prefer to drive in is from I-35 to I-75, and from the Canadian border to I-20. This is just to give you an idea of where I plan on operating at. As far as posting info about the recruiting process and orientation, if you have any specific questions about what I went through, by all means ask. My experiences, at least to this point, pretty much lined up with what everyone else has already posted, so I figure there's no reason to rehash old points. The only thing that may have been different for me is that I took my physical prior to going to GB. I live in Missouri, and it's one of the handful of states that require the driver to register their medical card in person at the D.M.V. Since a proxy can't do it for me, Schneider wanted me to do it before I left for orientation. Once again, thanks to everyone who has taken time out of their lives to help out.

Won't give away too many secrets, but the Chicago area for the most part is where it's at. Well at least a close second to the northeast. good luck to ya.

Thanks for the welcome. I created the thread when I was tired, so when I came back and read it, I realized I left a couple of things out. I decided on a 2016 FL with a 1 year lease to try things out before I commit long term. As far as driving experience goes, I've been driving for about 5 years. Flatbed, reefer, van, and this last job I left I was a route delivery driver for Do it Best hardware. I was delivering, by hand, to the stores in a full size tractor/trailer. Which is as miserable as it sounds like it would be. I'm just excited to get started. Actually being able to pick and choose my own freight is something I've never gotten to do. Nor is picking and choosing my own hometime schedule. Have fun and be safe.

Ahhh. The free spirit of the unknown. Just don't pick more off time then run time or you will have a quick and bad experience that will last for years. Good luck.

I need to get out the midwest more often. I mostly run Pa, Oh and south NJ. I need to make a bucket list for this summer.
