Sni will be going to automatics trucks. According to the extra mile news letter. The last 3 years the have been testing DT12 autos. They are planning to buy 1,155 this year. More than 900 auto trucks have been tested by drivers. They have log 53 million miles with no mechanical issues. I wonder if IC trucks will be autos.
Schneider is going Automatic.

Most companies are going automatic. We drive a Cascadia auto and love it. I'm grateful for it everytime I'm in traffic.
wyldhorses and flood Thank this. -
Yea I drive a auto, been driving it for 5yrs.
-
IC's get what they want.
Drove SNBC (Tanker) Freightliner 2014 Cascadia DD13 with Fuller Eaton auto 10spd, radar and such. Only put 45k on it, but nice truck... good mpg. SNI has always been eager to test the envelopes in trucking, especially on the tech side.
We'll see if it pays off...! -
I drive for Swift Intermodel in Charlotte. They issued an automatic in December I like it. Hate the truck but love the auto. I think you'll find it's very nice in traffic, I know my knee likes it. Swifts going full auto also.

It only makes sense. The automatics today are just as good as the manuals. They are less fatiguing to drive, especially in heavy traffic.
Work smarter, not harder.flood, rexmanno, TruckrWnnaB and 1 other person Thank this. -
Call me silly but I guess after all this time the novelty still hasn't worn off yet of shifting an 18 speed.
CasanovaCruiser Thanks this. -
Driving a manual is fatiguing ?? Speak for yourself.
I was brought up on a manual transmission. Didn't drive an auto til I was in my 20s.
It takes a bit more skill to drive a manual. Probably skills that today's rookies don't have or care to have. IMHO driving an auto is the lazy mans way to drive.
I will always stick to a manual as many O/O will. Personal preference. But whatever floats your boat.
But good luck with Schneider.Mr.X, russtrucker, jason6541 and 3 others Thank this. -
Still gotta double clutch. Adding a false clutch pedal to all automatics
Mr.X, skyviper73, dieselfuelonly and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm getting a '15 Cascadia with a d12 auto on the choice program.
