What is Schneider 's policy on driver facing cameras for company drivers, o/o' s, and l/o's?

Ive not read anything about their stance...

None and no mention of it. At least our privacy is respected here.
If you do your job safely that's all that really matters.

Wild Murphy and stevep1977 Thank this.

I cant imagine what the fallout will be for swift. Privacy and respect is high on my list. Glad that isn't an issue here.

No I don't have one and never will. I am considering becoming an o/o. I just won't get into anything until I am settled with what's going on in the industry concerning cameras.

    xlsdraw Thanks this.

As of Spring 2014 the VP of VTL are against dash cams. Things may change (or have already), but for now SNI considers dash cams to open more liability than the protection they offer.

Just for laughs let's pretend we're corporate counsel...
Now a forward facing camera could help in the event of litigation but one exposing the actions of the driver could only hurt. No camera on the driver is no evidence in support of wrong doing by the driver but a camera on the driver is fodder for the speculative interpretation of actions and intent; not to mention causation. A driver sneezing could be a contributing factor or an itch, a sideways glance...no evidence makes it harder to spin a story of driver error.
Why Swift is going down this expensive road is hard to fathom.

I'm all for forward facing cams.. and intend to get one myself.

Driver facing... lol no not even if it was my own.
Why? It opens the door for anything little thing I do.. to be blasted by some lawyer.

Say going after a driver chewing gum while driving calling it "distracted driving" and putting him at fault.. all thanks to a driver cam.
Oh he smoked a cig while driving and was in an accident! send him to jail and sue for millions!

There is NOTHING a driver facing camera can do that can benefit the driver.. it's just another tool to go after the driver as usual.
HIS HAND WENT FOR THE TURN SIGNAL! Distracted driver taking his hands off the wheel! Send him to jail!
If a driver picked his nose 30 seconds before an accident you can be sure some ******* lawyer will try to use that against him.
If I yawned 30 seconds before an accident some lawyer can take that and twist it as... "too tired" to safely be behind the wheel.
Sure that might sound out there but we all know how everybody loves to attack truck drivers, especially greedy lawyers.
