Schneider National launches fuel-hauling service

Schneider National launches fuel-hauling service
3/17/08
Quote:
Schneider National announced today, March 17, that it has added fuel-hauling capabilities to its bulk division. Schneider says the new service stems from the emergency fuel supply chain Schneider managed for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Department of Transportation during the Hurricane Katrina recovery.

“Schneider hauled over 1.5 million gallons of diesel and provided drivers, supervision and dispatch services for the Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts,” says George Grossardt, vice president and general manager of Green Bay, Wis.-based Schneider National Bulk. “Within days, we were able to put together a plan to fuel emergency vehicles and secure hard-to-find diesel storage containers. After a deeper look into this leg of the transportation sector, Schneider realized that offering this service to customers was the next natural extension in our current transportation offerings.”

Schneider says its research into the fuel-hauling industry revealed aging fleets across the country, new environmental regulations and fuel supply capacity issues. Grossardt says the company has made a significant capital investment in state-of-the-art tractors and multicompartment fuel-hauling trailers, ISO 9001:2000 certification and highly trained drivers, allowing Schneider National to offer on-time, cost-effective and reliable fuel-hauling transportation services.

Schneider says it will use experience from 45 years in the bulk division and its broad enterprise capabilities to provide fuel hauling in select markets of the country. Schneider’s fuel-hauling services are offered in the Gulf Coast region (stretching from New Orleans to Houston) and the upper Midwest. Schneider says it also will explore expanding its fuel-hauling capacity to the eastern portion of the United States. http://www.etrucker.com/apps/news/article.asp?id=67573

I called and asked a Schneider recruiter about possibly driving a tanker out of Minnesota, but she told me that they can't do it from this area. I would have thought that since I'm fairly close to Green Bay they may have been able to do it but no dice.

Does anyone know of any good companies where an inexperienced driver can get hired, trained, and learn to drive a tanker?
