Need some info on Schneider

Getting ready to start training need to know a few things

Are they getting miles even with freight slow

Are they still hiring drivers even with diesel fuel topping almost 5 bucks in some places

Is Schneider a good company to start training with and stick around or do people train and jump ship

Out off all the companies I researched Schneider seems best to train with

Schneider drivers help me out

Thanks

Me Too !!!!

I'm in the same boat. Just finished, trying, to talk to a Roehl guy (kinda like Slick Wille asking Monica for 'play by play' commentary). Just plain gave up after his little "Where do you live" speil. I am looking at ALL THE POSTS and have seen a simple standard of measurement. Most of the squawks about Schneider seem to be coming from the same few whiner's. Been there, heard it, seen the results and got real tired of it QUICK !!!!!.

I am going in to town tomorrow to see a few Schneider drivers and try to get a fair impartial opinion as to see if it is worth getting the CDL and drive for The Great Pumpkin, or, is the Schneider line just like Roehl's; all hype and press release or are they willing to put their 'schwantz's' on the line and actually deliver what they say they can ? Only time will tell.

Any opinions, please, share away gang !!! Even war stories are greatly accepted. We all learn if we all share.

I said I was going to go to Schneider but they are making me wait a week after I turn 21 so roehl went ahead and took me

Schneider is going after the O/Os (owner-operators) right now and have a 2000$ bonus for Schneider drivers that recruit an O/O.

Talked to an ex-Landstar and he felt it was a much better deal. I tought landstar had 10/90 split, but it's the same as the Schneider 35/65. He got 4 of his Landstar buddies to join and got 4k since the bonus was only 1k at the time.

If I was starting out: First year is tough especially the first 6 months before the first raise. Get onto a dedicated account if possible. You will know after the first Winter if this sort of job is for you. Trucking is not easy, but after a year you should be making 40k-50k pretax as a company driver.

Yes, Schneider is still hiring but it seems about 50-80% less. For training try to get into the Green Bay facility. I don't really like the Dallas OC and have never been to Fontana, CA.

sni is a good company to work for and very military friendly as far as miles if you run hard and have a good driver dispatch planner (ddp) you will get all the miles you can run if you have a bad ddp or dont want to run hard then miles will be about 2k to 2.5k most weeks i run 2.5k+ since i run 11-10-11-10... and have a good ddp who keeps me in miles ive heard of guys getting 2.5k as a high my highest pay check was 4.5k (the check before was only 1k stupid tripacks not making it in on time for pay roll) sni just moved to transflow so you should get all your miles you ran on the check the next week.

To all that need a little info on Schneider. my first trucking job was with them back in 2001. They have an excellent training program, one of the best, and I hear that it's still top notch. I got good miles, and they were in general, respectful of me. After I got about 7 months experience, they started to run me mostly at night. This is good for alot of drivers, but for me, it wasn't a good experience, as I'm just not a good and safe night driver. All in all, I think that it's a good company, and looking back now after driving for 7 years, I got more respect than most of the companies I've worked for since. I got very good training, which sticks with me still. And it made me a good backer, which is especially valuable in some of those tight docks that you encounter on occasion!
