I talked to my recruiter Thursday the 16th to make sure they had gotten some stuff I faxed them, she had and everything was good. She called me Friday the 17th in the morning to say that there was no longer any opening in the Van division. She offered me a spot in Tanker, but the require drivers to be clean shaved (I have a beard), and I would be uncomfortable walking on a tanker roof catwalk (not as young or agile as I used to be). She also mentioned I should try back at a later date.

I was in GB on Thur and they had a class in the bus.

-rumor is Nov 12 (14?) from this forum. I have not heard anything but will keep my eyes and ears open.

There is also a rumor of UPS buying Schneider box.

I believe these are both just rumors with no merit.

Announced just today; As of November 14, 2008, All Schneider Training Academy's will shut down all 14 Day Basic Training (Non CDL), and ADTC training (CDL School Grads), until further notice.

The only hiring and training being done will be focused on Experienced Drivers.

I have been told they may trickle in a small Newbie class from time to time at the Green Bay, WI. Location. This will be the only company wide training location for all of the US.

Yes, all of the Instructors will be back in driving positions. I feel especially bad for those who based their life style on the daily STA job, and for the TE's out there that depend on the TE pay.

This new announcement today is a further step in action to the topic I posted recently.

Schneider trucks look nice

They appear to have nice well maintained trucks. Can anyone verify that?

Ya, my bro worked there for a yr til Sept and thye kept them up ok. You can have them washed at a terminal and teams can run 67 mph single drivers 62. Orange aint that purty and everybody cusses Schneider but they are better than Swift.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, in practice there is.
