Your probably right. I applied to Melton and got turned down. I think their company profile states 'No Felonies'.

Well since I started this post over a year ago I will cont. on with it....After being turned down so many times we had decided to go back on the road doing his Millwright/welder work he was laid off AGAIN in mid August 2010. So maybe enough time has gone by and we can try again....we had applied at so many hard to keep track but I will this time. I know I have 105 companies listed to look at and we have already dropped at 25 of those because there not taking newbies right now.
....so here we goooo again....a lil over a yr later...I hope this time something comes of it!!!

Good luck to you and your husband. I have one that is 6 years ago I have been with a company for four years now but still find it hard to find other companies that are willing to look past it and I'm not a newbie. Hopefully there will be someone out there that will be willing to give you a chance

Try RE Garrison in Cullman Al. You can google them. They do teams out west to east. You should start around your home. Find companies that have less than one hundred fifty trucks. Also East West Motor Express in Ga also loves husband/wife teams. Just keep looking. Companies also dont hire alot in December so dont be discouraged if you cant find something right away.

RE Garrison doesn't hire newbies if I am not mistaken you have to have a year in

Thank You trukgrl, It seems to haunt a lot of really good folks. I did find a site that helps locate trucking co's and other types of work for HARD2HIRE folks. From the research I have done it looks like 10 yrs for most companies. Depending what typr of charge it is longer or just flat out NO.
    Good luck to ya !:biggrin_25526:

I will give them a look. Yea December is not the best time but we will make the best of it. I myself had started at Stevens in December 99 but freight was MUCH BETTER....we will see what happens:biggrin_25521:!

Working on getting hubby a WIA grant for his school but getting the run around trien ...but sure not giving up yet!
Without that is does not give us to many choices of who will take both of us. With the WIA it opens many more doors for us as a team. Husband called Schneider 12/8/2010 and "TOLD" there not taking on students right now.
We did both applied at SWIFT and I got the "ok" (at least this part of it...) and now just waiting on his outcome. So this is at least a good start. I am just thankful to have a company give me a chance after being off the road for awhile. Yes I KNOW ALL ABOUT the NEGATIVES but really I have already dealt with Stevens -enough said!
Anyway at least there is a lil hope...should have a answer by Thurs afternoon.....

    mje Thanks this.

I wish u & hubby the best of luck & i'm sure something will come through for u because from reading this thread u don't give up. Most local companies will hire ex felons, thats how i got started & most r not listed so u must ride around & speak with them in person. Also try temp agency, they could also be a good start & some want you to start out in a straight truck before they put u in a tractor. they sure help me more than once. And alot of them need temp help for the holidays rush & could help u get ur foot n the door. GOD BLESS & I HOPE THIS HELPS
