Like my friends MedMan and Redd stated for me, it is reefer work. We do mostly plant to plant intracompany type stuff with VERY little exposure to grocery warehouses. We also do a decent amount of drop and hook.

MedMan actually worked for another fleet owner for this company for awhile and could probably answer some questions from a driver's perspective.(HINT HINT....flood his PM box.lol)

As for my trucks; the truck that is currently vacant is a 2005 Frieghtliner Columbia and I will be purchasing another truck sometime in the near future as well. That truck will be in the 2003-2006 range and will also be an aerodynamic truck. I do not run any fancy, long hooded large cars. My trucks are somewhat plain, very efficient, and very well maintained.

I received a good number of PM's and emails in regards to this thread, and I thank you all for your interest. I just ended a VERY long day and am now parked in the suburbs of Chicago looking at a pile of snow and to be honest, I am just plain wore out. So yes, I do still drive full time doing the same thing that any prospective hire would be asked to do.

I will take the time to respond to each of your emails and PM's, just please be patient as it may take me a day or two.

I could do either, although currently I am looking for someone who already has a CDL and is ready to go and start with a trainer. I am aggressively expanding though and may be looking for a good candidate to send through school to get their CDL in the near future.

I have no problem at all with hiring an experienced driver either, by the way. The situation now though is that the driver that I am replacing will still be working for me for another 6-8 weeks. He is leaving the trucking industry altogether but has graciously agreed to stay on long enough to train his own replacement for me. That is why it makes more sense for me in the present time to hire a trainee rather than an experienced driver. I just felt like I needed to clarify that point.

Rookie. I am the reason they don't hire in TX anymore. lmfao... They had a hard time getting me home and cost themselves alot of money. When I left (which I only left to drive my own truck) I then heard they were not hiring in TX anymore. Although I'd think if they did hire anywhere up by dallas would be the area.

no produce work over there, mostly frozen and alot of dry but still pulling reefers. I think I only pulled one dry van while I was there. they do have a few.

But you know you aren't qualified to argue with a Hoosier. You aren't good enough to win that "discussion".

I've hired one trainee already and he has begun training as of last week. I am holding off on the second one because I may be jumping on a different opportunity that I have been presented. If I decide to hire a second trainee, I will post it here or in a new thread altogether.
