I know...I know but ...when was the last time you went to the store and the grocery's were free?? Pulled up to a fuel pump and the fuel was free?? Even better, tell your dispatcher or T.O.M. that 2 hrs will be deducted from his salary and watch him squawk. Why you and not him???
Revolt drivers!!!! Stop giving up free time !!! Some tank carriers have agreed to 2 hrs. to load and 3 hrs to off load ! Bull !!! Don't do it !!!
And by all means, if you don't get paid for it then don't write it down so they don't get it !!!! $25.00 to off load a full load with a Roper pump ?
Don't take the load !
Look, we won the cabover war. You don't see them anymore do you? It's because we won't drive them and we can win this and other issues just as soon as we quit selling out to the carrier.
Think about it !!!!
Free time at shippers!!!!

Good Luck.
It is driven by money and those who have it control it. -
I already did something about it. You won't see me complain if I have to sit, pti, fuel or wait for repairs.
-
You have to love trucking. What other business can you get people to work for free?
I also did something about it. -
We give two hrs free, then charge $75 an hr. If I have to fingerprint the load, no free time $75.00 begins when I bump the fock
-
Cabovers left mainly because of the bridge law formulas...wasn't enough wheelbase....

Thursday I broke down in Colton CA I10@215, anyway it was a waterpump. Took the mechanic 2 hours to get there, 6 hours to R&R the pump, More to it than I thought, watched had no where to go. Anyway turned in 8 hours breakdown.
The owner called and ask do you think this is fair, and I told him no, I just had the shop service it told them the shaft had play in it and need to be replaced, The shop mechanic told me to stick to driving the truck and leave the wrenching to them. He was upset to say the least. SO I added that as a penalty for not repairing it I should I also get the time it took to switch out tractors. So he said he would approve it.
I hear driver say all the time that there companies do not pay break down, they should its not your truck. -
Cab overs left because of the motor carrier act of 1980. Length law was changed, no more 55 ft states, no more 57 ft in TN. Law on interstates was based on trailer length, not overall length. -

you can try as hard as you want.. but its not a driver war.. its a Customer-service(marketer)/ customer war.. or well, settlement.
Its what the market guy's do, to get a contract, they have to settle for say 2 hours free unloading (knowing full well it may take more to unload), and they may say.. that they will use you guy's as a regular... but only if they offer 4 hours free unloading... and well, a contract to them, is just another $ to put in, so they dont care...
Ive had this argument with our customer-service people.. and finding out they only paid me for 12 pallets, not 24.. I asked why...
They said, oh because you could double stack them, so we are only going to charge then for 12..
I said thats bull,
their reply.. oh we been doing this alot longer then you.. (They are mid 40s, im only mid 20's)
Oh really.. so how many years trucking?.. (0).. how many years hauling pallets (0)
I then got them to look at the CCTV's they have up to the docks.. and it was all T.V.s...
Then I asked.. so you willing to explain why 12 pallets of T.V.s ended up being broken as they were to be double stacked?.. they shut up, and left my pay as 24...
---------
Its a slow process, but to make changes you got to make your-self heard... (I waited for the big-boss to walk by before starting that tiff)
---------
As for cab-overs.. I like them, gives me plenty of room, and can see right infront.. and the turning circle is better .. just my 2 cents on thatSheepDog Thanks this.
