When I was with Schanno years ago they let us get all the lumper money, but you were given a comck for your labor and they took taxes out. Most companies pay you less than the lumper gets and they get the extra money to keep themselves not telling you its all included in the shipping costs that the broker or your company caharged the consumer to deliver it. Don't get caught telling your company it costs more or trying to get more by comchek, you could get fired for doing this, some companies see that as stealing on your end,but if your company steals from you thats ok. if you unload yourself let the broker know ahead of time ,sometimes the broker will pay you the comck and you can argue with your company that the broker said that is your money,I have got what i deserved this way many times and your company doesn't want to make waves with the broker or show them they are cheating you.

and their in-house employee/lumpers have an unlimited amount of time to unload you, but if you go over a certain amount of time, you will be asked to pull away from the dock because you used up your appointment time.

I hate everything about Wal-Mart.

Yeah, and you can bet that the ID they are giving isn't the real one.

Some of them use the last person's ID that they mugged before they unloaded you.

Thank God I don't mess with anything in a van. Pay to get unloaded lol YEAH RIGHT. If I called dispatch and told them we had to pay to get unloaded they would tell me to bring the load back to the yard. Then we would end up getting paid to deliver it 2 times. The clock is ticking.

The worst thing about van work, at least in my line of work, is when you get freight that's more suitable for a flatbed i.e. long and oversize.

No thanks. I'll get it. I need the exercise anyway.

Yep. Re-delivery charges add up fast.

My company is a little different. We find out how much and if we decide to unload they will pay us or we can get a comcheck and pay a lumper.

I think lumper fee are a ripoff. They ordered the stuff they should have to unload it. Also, if it needed to be stacked a certain way they should have told the shipper to stack it that way.

I delivered a half load of aluminum foil to Birmingham and the lumper charged me $105 because it had to be "broken down". Ridiculous.
