I showed up at 0630 for a 0700 appointment with a load of Poland Spring water to a milk plant that distributes it in the area. I checked in with the guard and they told me to park right out front and someone will be out shortly to get me, 0730 rolls around still no one. I let my dispatch know that the haven't put me in a dock yet and she sends a backhaul. 0800 still sitting there watching the morning news, so I check with the guard again and ask how much longer, he said he didn't know but will let someone know that I'm still waiting to get unload. 0845 still waiting so I call dispatch then go back over to the guard shack and want a idea on how much longer. Well around 1000 someone finally comes out and asks me if I had the water, I tell him yes then he has enough nerve to say "We didn't know you were here" the whole time I was sitting there I had watched this guy walk outside look at me then check their trailer's in the docks before they pulled them out.

note: Guard doesn't have a clue, ask where the shipping/receiving dept is.

C&S Warehouse's (take your pick)

They want $90 to $110 in Lumper fee's just to do a straight pull off the trailer. Granted the company pays for it but after the second time I just do it myself and actually get out of there faster.

Walmart

I hate going to a walmart DC. No particular reason except the "company policy attitude"... we will not wait on you, but you will wait at least our alotted 2 hrs.
Their attitude really gets my dander up.

K Mart, Forrest Park GA

Arrived at 1900 to pick up a load going to Ocala FL, them was picking up a load there to get to Atlanta again to pick up a better load going cross country.

Arrived at 1900, appointment time was set at 0800 that morning until 2359 that night. Got there, checked in, dropped MT and was told load wasnt ready yet.

0200 AM, still not ready.

0400 AM...load will not get done, dock workers are going home. Call your company, we will reschedule load Monday.

8 hours sitting. No load. Cant go to Ocala, so screwed out of 750 mile round trip to keep us moving. Had to sit at truck stop for 22 hours waiting for hot load in Atlanta to get moving again, nothing else was available.

Never shopped there anyways.

BEST BUY - Anywhere, USA

If you have ever been to their store and seen how the guy who designed the docks and parking lots to accommodate trucks thought it would be funny to make them the way they did, you already understand. I have not had trouble hitting a dock since i was a student and took me over 30 minutes to get the trailer to the angled dock trying to avoid 32, yes 32 yellow poles that they felt the need to be all over the place. (8 of them near the docks themselves, Washington, UT Best Buy)

I now shop at Circuit City.

Target DC, Near Virgina Beach VA

I was dispatched to take a load of CHEP pallets, nothing but pallets from a Wal Mart DC in Richmond VA to a Target DC near VA Beach. I dont know why, but I guess they were short on pallets. Anyways, I pick up the load and sign for it, and it is NOT sealed. Wal mart calims its not freight no need to seal it. Ok..make delivery to Target and they make a huge fuss and have one of their "Police" peoples come out and make a full report from their stupid "police sub stations". They claim they cannot accept loads without seals unless they unload it and count, and they still have to make reports and call my comapny. After this guy goes crazy turning blue, i simply explained to him what I had and was nice enough to open the doors and show him 30,000 pounds of pallets, non e of their stupid product. Dont know why but that night just bugged me. Products i understand, pallets give me a break. I dont go to them no more.

Yes their attitude sucks.....They think they are GOD!!!!!
I was at the D/C in Temple, TX and I showed up 4hrs early for my Appt. Had to stay outside the gate till 1hr before my Appt. time. The stupid ### security guard was so damn SLOW in checking in all the trucks that by the time I got up to the recieving office and waited in line then got to the window I was 20 min past my appt time. FIRST thing out of the dumb chick working was " Why are you late " so I told her that I was not late, and gave her the run down all the events that went down and I was here 4hrs early. You would think she would have been like " ok no prob " ( or something like that ) NO!!!!! She said that was no reason to be late. I told her that I cant help it if your gate keepers dont let me in till 1 hr to appt time and as well as a bunch of other trucks and slow ### guards and that she took her sweet time getting drivers checked in. Not my fault its you guys. She did not like that at all!!!!! and told me that its not Wal-marts fault and I would have to give her another as to why I was late. I told her dumb ### that was the reason and if she thinks Wal-Mart does no evil then she needed to wake up and get out of dreamland. THAT PISSED HER OFF !!!! Cool thing was I still got my dock and they got their junk off my truck...took 3hrs. Oh yea I still had to pay the $65 for their staff to pull their #### off.......

GOT TO LOVE WAL-Mart !!!!!!!

Just a quick tip for dealing with difficult shippers. I was once on the way to a receiver who had a reputation for making us wait for hours to un-load with no good reason. On this particular day though, I accidently ran over a skunk 10 miles prior to arriving there. Within minutes, forklifts appeared like flies at a picnic. I don't think I was there more then 15 minutes. I now include "skunking-up" in my bag of tricks for expediting slow loading and un-loading operations.

That is HILARIOUS!!!!! I have a stuffed toy skunk on my dash!!!! LOL.
Well, as I am local LTL if someone gives me a hard time, I tell them I am leaving and someone else can bring the load another day. Then they usually change their tune and are nice to me and now they want me to stay. But, you have to leave it they dont. So it could be a difficult game to play if you are OTR!
