Shippers & Receivers - Good or Bad Load O' Freight That Just Can't Wait. Had a good or bad experience with a shipper or receiver? Discuss grocery warehouses, lumpers, and anything dealing with pickups or deliveries here. Does that shipper let you park and sleep? Does the receiver FORCE you to get a lumper?

I am sure this is posted somehwere in here more than once but SAFEWAY/VONS. I had a load going to safeway in El monte CA. My load was scheduled for 6:30 am. My broker calls me the night before and tells me that Safeway had to reschedule to 11 am. O.k. no big deal so I show up and there is a big sign that says you are not allowed to check in until 10 minutes prior to your app. I showed up a hour and a half early. I walk up tp the gaurd shack just knowing that I am going to have problems because of who they are and sure enough they did not have a app. They guy tells me that they moved my app. to the following day and since I had 2 drops there my apps. were at 6:30 then I would need to leave and come back in a 10. Well they then just lost my app. all together and told me they coould get to me in the morning if there was time. I have been know to be a little hot headed in the past and so when I asked the guy at the front desk who I needed to bill to take this load backl to where I got it from amazingly I had a app. for that day.
I am noticieing a pattern buy reading this that all of the complaints in here are for grocery wharehouses.

Definitely WalMart in Smyrna DE and and USF in Centennial, Co as well as Sysco Denver. The Walmart turned me away because i was 2.25 Hrs early and then after i dropped and unhooked they moved my trailer to another door with out telling me and didn't bother to tell me the new door number and then when it was finished the were calling the door number that it was in for the driver and i didn't respond because they were calling 326 and not 323 which they gave me to back in to. needless to say they left me with a bad taste in my mouth. the other to were just slower than dirt and between the to they caused me to be late for my other drops but i got a combination of 3 hrs of detention pay. but it caused us to have to stay an extra day in Denver and delaying a preset for us. JJ Ranch.

bad reciever

the worste on I ever went to was stop and shop in assonette ma. I was on time but it still took them 8 hours to get me in a door. then they unloaded me and I pulled out went and parked and went into get my paper work and they told me they forgot to take it all off so I had to wait for another door just another 15 minutes and do it all again. That was awfull I wont go back there. And the worste shipper is Tyson I wont work for anyone who does tyson ever again. YOu can wait days for a load to come out then it comes out 10 hours late but you still have to get it there on time or they fine you. Unbelievable

Try being a local LTL driver for grocery chains. We deliver to Winco, Safeway, Fred Meyer, Wal-Mart and Albertsons. They all SUCK except Albertsons and Winco. I could go into detail but I see no point in raising my blood pressure. I just got home from work!

yeah I went to heb last fall. I had two different drops for them. I went in an hour early and they told me I couldnt come in yet so the guard gave me a little map that took around about way to another lot of theres and told me to park and they would call me on the cb when they were ready for me. So I drive around the tiny streets lined with cars on both sides finally get to this lot spend a few minutes squeazing inbetween two other trucks and crawl into my bunk. Not 2 minutes later they call me to come back to the guard shack. So I go back to the guard shack and he directs me in the direction I have to go. I go check in they put me in a dock and unload the first part . I go to get my paper work and they tell me to pull out and they will reseal my trailer so I can drive 100 yards to the other end of the warehouse to have the rest pulled off. So I do that they come out and put the seal on (unbelievable) I go over to the other end of the warehouse stand in line finally get up to the window the gal looks at my paperwork and asks me why I am late. I explain to her that I am not late I was on the other end of the warehouse with another delivery. So she wants proof so I go back out to the truck get the bills come back in now have to stand in line for another 1/2 hour finally get to the window show her the bills she calls over and comferms that indeed they did sign the bills. Now all the doors are full so have to wait for a door. I did finally get out of there but it was an all day adventure
that I really dont want to have again.

Turned out my case was dismissed the broker had to file a claim under his insurance to pay for the potatoes plus pay my freight bill, storage fee, and dump fee after i showed a receipt from the county landfill for 45,000 pounds at 35 dollars a ton. The receipt was for a load my friend took to the landfill in his dump wagon and i sold the potatoes at the market in atlanta to first guy that had $5000 cash. If these people want to make interstate commerce a game, Im gonna play to win!!!!!!!! Needless to say i went back to flatbeddin after that load..........
WAL MART GETS MY VOTE; been ordered to break every law of hours of service for these idiots, denied unloading if 10 min late. Even called the head of shipping once and the CEO said that DOT can kiss his backside with their FMCSR.
