| Bad Shippers and Receivers I would say any company that makes you listen to the radio for hours on end past your appt time for a dock assignment, or worse forces you to hand over your keys and urn off your truck in 90 + degree heat or winter cold and wait hours on end. Miller brewing Anheuser Busch Anyplace where dockworkers speak no english and don't understand that you can't cram 47000 lbs of brass ingots side by side in the front 15 feet of the trailer. US foodservice can be terrible but at least you can stay in your truck during the unload, and idle it. I have had both good and bad experiences with Walmart Any company that has lazy union crybabies. I went to a paper mill up in the frozen north one time to unload baled pulp, which takes less than 15 minutes normally. They were FCFS. No trucks ahead of me for hours and no one behind me. I knew because there was only 1 truck route for 100 miles to this place. I greeted the guy in the rec office, who was big, bearded middle age mountain of a man. He looked the bills over and just about cried when he had to put his chocolate chip cookies, yes cookies down for a few minutes. "Can't a guy get a break? You damn drivers come in here ALL DAY LONG and expect ME to drop everything for YOU." Well, good day to you to, kind sir. I told him if it was break time, to take his break. I told him if his job was to unload trucks, that I'll be waiting in mine until he's done. "You'll be waiting a long damn time" Good, I said. I need a NAP. That always seems to work. If I have a long wait, just before I finally doze off I feel the dock plate slam and the truck starts hopping. I was still outta there in less than 15 minutes. When he came out to hand me my bills, i told him to have a nice day, and enjoy his cookies. he mumbled something and walked off. |

Turned truck on fo 15 minutes too cool off inside and all heck broke out needless too say im not allowed at that dc no more. The one in woodland is the same way but they use lumpers that charge doctor fees but there fast. Im still allowed at woodland but will see for how much longer. | I agree when you say the cust will be done loading or unloading in half hr.Thats a bunch of hog wash.Theres been many times I get at the cust only to sit all day and nite.Bottom line is most of the cust are just plain lazy and they'll get to us when they get around to it.They don't care how long the driver has to sit and thats how drivers make a living is driving.Hauling reefer you sit alot more then dry van. |

| I think diesel_weasel summed it up pretty darn well. Other than what he said I've only had problems out of what comes out off a boat, and that's usually CH Robinson stuff. Here's an interesting on I had a few weeks back when dragging a dry van. No one spoke a lick of English at the shipper, and it was loaded on the floor, the consignee had no idea that it would be and wasn't prepared for it. Now keep in mind this pic I'm posting is LEAVING the shipper this is the poor condition they loaded it in. |
