| I am appalled at the number of drivers who possess no self respect and allow themselves to be abused in so many ways. No wonder we get treated this way, they think we will tolerate it. Being told on Friday to check back Monday? And you do it? Absurd. First of all, shippers rules do not apply to me. I do not work for their company. If I show up on time and you put me in a door and I am leaving in an hour, we are golden. If anything other than that occurs we may have issues. If you refuse to remove the dunnage that goes with your load, I will be glad to do it for you, inyour parking lot. STOP TAKING CRAP DRIVERS! Be a man. Oh, and Wild Bird, one question, what color is the sky in your world? |

What is professional about driving around FOR FREE trying to find some place to dump dunnage that should have been taken off at the receiver? That's not professional, that is stupid. What is professional about letting some dillweed forklift operator that makes less than half what I do condescend to me? He's the peon. If he acts his place, I got no problem. Grow some stones and stop letting people piss on you. |

| WOW all these stories are quite depressing to a soon-to-be-truck driver... the worst experience i've ever had driving with my dad was UNITED grocers in California... from reading over all pages, i guess grocery warehouses are the worst... |

| The real world I have to hand it to you. You make a pretty convincing born again Christian or a dispatcher in disquise. The real world is that I refuse to turn around and kneel down so I can be shot in the head. I will go out like a viking as the saying goes. This concerns the part about doing a good job, and being a great worker so a receiver that has forced me to sit in the middle of winter in Co. or the middle of summer in South Tx., not able to run my vehicle for 5 or 6 hours, will want me back. Worse yet even request me back. If a person does not want a job then quit. DO NOT quit under a load and do not "cuss" anyone out. Be a professional all the times and not "most" of the time. I will not return to a shipper or receiver that abuses me or my time. I will not work for a company that supports this. I have a clean driving record a good work record, and do not have to put up with it. This nation still has a shortage of truck drivers and this will not change in the near future. Quote:

| You speak of the trailer being yours? are you a owner-operator? If not your pulling someone else's equipment and doing so you are just a driver like the rest of us and the rules apply to you too. The shipper and receiver are where you earn your paycheck. If you want to act like a boor that is ok. Just don't try to tell younger least experience drivers to be like you. One of you out there is enough. |

You want to call me a "boor" ok...Whatever. As far as me giving advice to younger or less experience drivers. I can and will do as I please. If anything I hope no one takes most of your advice.... I would hate to see more drivers being used as a floormat like you. Thats the problem on why drivers are treated like crap and less then human on the docks...Most of them dont stand up for themselves and become floormats. I have no problem following their rules as long as they treat me with respect. If they dont I will do what I have to do. |

| I know this thread is a little dormant, but I had to put in my .02. To the guy who had the HEB issues and threw trash in the store at the unsuspecting cashier, I have a real problem with that. Having worked behind a register, I have had all kinds of customers, from those who think I set the prices, to those who think I will do "one little favor" and cash the out of town checks. The person behind the counter has no say in anything, much less in how a person in a different department acts. Hassling a different person does not fix anything, and marks you as an olympic class jerk. The situation was badly handled all the way around. Two people acting unprofessionally becomes comedy, and nothing gets accomplished. Then the next person to come in contact with either person has to deal with a temper tantrum, or a story they don't want to hear. Why do you think truckers are treated like this? Maybe because truckers have been stepping all over them, and they have found a way to have some power. It does not make it better. All you are doing is arguing yourself out of a job and making it worse for the guys coming in after you. Even if you put in 25 and retire, someone still has to take your place. If you are a pain in the tuchus, we all get treated like that. In other words, the more you are a jerk, the worse we get treated. Lighten up, Francis.
