| Shippers & Receivers - Good or Bad Load O' Freight That Just Can't Wait. Had a good or bad experience with a shipper or receiver? Discuss grocery warehouses, lumpers, and anything dealing with pickups or deliveries here. Does that shipper let you park and sleep? Does the receiver FORCE you to get a lumper? |

| Coca-cola anywhere. deadheaded 130 mi sat 7 1/2 hours in ks then they droped the load. The worst is coca cola in egan mn. 6 hours for 4 pallets then drive around building to pick up two more pallets.Don't get me started on these peoples attitude. Missed my next load because of this and of coures no detention. Oh yeah these were brokered by Freight of all Kinds by the company we 're leased to and our take?$ .66 mile. won't pull for f.a.k. ever and sure won't ever buy another coke. |

| HEB was a pain when I drove out there over 15 years ago I see they haven't changed. I made a mistake of picking up a lumper and bringing him in with me. I couldn't use him and they didn't tell me until he had been on the dock waiting for pallets for over and hour. I had gone to bed after a full night of running the (HOT LOAD so called). I spend all day there and didn't get unloaded until I came back the next day and used their lumper, at twice the cost. |

Now Wal-Mart grocery DC's...that deserves a thread all to it's own. Damn multi-billion dollar company and the commies won't unload their incoming freight without the driver/company having to pay their lumper. All the while, they take their sweet time getting it done. I have not patronized Wal-Mart after my first time experiencing the grocery DC swindle game. |

| Coca Cola Detention Coca Cola has it in their contract to pay $50 per hour for detention after 2 hours. Brokers will ask you what time you loaded and unloaded so they can collect it so make sure your confirmation specifies that you get $50 per hour for detention or you're just making the broker more money because coke does pay it every time. |

| Will they let you unload , I was under the assumption they would not allow drivers to unload, well in a case of a friend of mine that used to work at swift they would not let him unload .. had to pay their lumper. |

| The Walmarts I go to expect us to offload our own freight... besides which it is quicker than waiting for them to do it... |

| I've noticed that MANY, but not all wagon drivers did not sign up for their health or to work. Don't hate me, I aint the one that gave wagon drivers that reputation.

| I know the flames are coming, but here is my reply. First, I became a truck driver to drive the freight from point A to point B. If I wanted to be a lumper, I would have chosen that path. Second, the vast majority of receivers will not let a driver use their equipment (forklift, pallet jack, etc.). Doesn't matter if you are certified to use the equipment or not. Third, it is absolutely ridiculous to expect a driver to lump for unloading pay that ammounts to peanuts while lumpers are paid, IMHO, a pretty penny for lumping services, while the lumper(s) can and often do use the proper tools. Last, you (the receiver) ordered the freight. You make arrangements to get it unloaded, and you pay for it. I'm wearing my nomex suit. Bring on the fire. |
