Stay away from the Perrysburg, Ohio Walgreens. From my experience they are always slow.

C & S grocery warehouse Brattleboro VT. Spent almost 2 1/2 days in their "bullpen" ya real nice place. Lockdown was more like it, no trl drops no trl pool, no cell coverage, nothing on the TV, not even a damn vending machine in their outpost. Just a phone and a broken toilet. No chance for a repower load, no chance for a drop in the door and off to sleep, couldn't even drop and leave the yard to go down and do laps in the infamous rotary a few times and hit the local pizza hut. Later found out that for the 65 doors they had they only had 3 lumpers on a shift with a 2 hour downtime between shifts and were only running 2 shifts. The slowest lumpers ever too, averaged about a truck every 6 hours. Like they hand unloaded the freight or something. Apparently things really are simpler in New England. Only good side to it was I got a 34 restart out of it.

Worst one for me was in Fort Worth Texas, at the Motorola factory. They were calling dispatch wondering where I was for my 4pm pick up, but it was only 3pm and I was a half hour away. Ok great. Get there after two more calls to dispatch from motorola. Ran inside thinking I could get loaded now, nope. Here fill out this paper about high value loads, blah blah blah. Ok heres the paper, now go wait for an open dock. Waited a half hour found a dock told them the number and waited. They didnt touch the truck till 10pm, then took them two hours to load. Didnt get outta there till 1230. Funniest part was a guy came outta the warehouse, and said "ok on three you pull off the dock really fast and stop" he had to take pictures of me closing the doors and locking it. Never want to go back there.

We've had our share of waiting for live loads out of the Port of Indiana, as well as waiting for cranes on jobsites, mainly an Enron plant in Indiana that we were hauling dismantled materials out of. I know one plant we waited 3 days to get loaded, and ended up dropping our trailer there and picking it up 9 days later loaded. We've waited longer for permits in Michigan than for live loads though. We waited for a set of permits for 15 days with loaded trailers in Ludington, MI to go to Ontario once.

Thumbs down Fred-X

Showed at the downtown LA FED-X terminal 30-min early for a shipment about a week before xmas... waited for 10 hours before the yard monkey got our trailer... sat in the bobtail area for another 24 before we got it back. Got hollered at by jerk FED-X drivers for the whole time about how come we were in their way, taking their work, etc. LAX and Whittier terminals are great... don't every care to go back to the downtown place!

Well Rocket

Who exactly do you sweet talk to at a shipper/receiver?

I don't exactly know if it would be called 'sweet talk' or not but we were dropping aload in wakefern, NJ. at Wakefern Co. Was a really crummy reduced rate load. Well, took them 4 hours to unload us (bunch of foriegners). Well not feeling well that day, had nothing to eat, and not in the best of moods (you know us women and our moods, lol) After 4 hours and finally getting unloaded my hubby comes back to the truck, upset, and calls into dispatch. Seems the company had a policy against signing freight bills. Well with our company you have to have the freight bill signed before leaving the dock. Well, I sat there fuming for an hour while Keith and dispatch are doing everything they can to get the company to sign the freight bill. Well finally I had enough! I told my hubby "you give me that bill". I snatched the bill from him, jumped out of the truck, went inside and asked for the manager. A few minutes later a little man comes over and ask what the problem is. I promptly (very nicely, and in a 'sweet' voice) explained to him, I had not eaten that day or had a chance to eat the day before as we were busy getting his reduced rate load to him. I then explained to him that I was not feeling well and asked if he really wanted me to pass out in his parking lot. I then handed him the paper and asked could you please sign this now so that your not liable when I go down. Not Surprisingly he promptly signed the freight bill. I then went back to the truck and handed the bill to my husband who was amazed and could not believe the bill was actually signed. Then my hubby and I merrily went on our way to the nearest truck stop and had a nice dinner.

8 hours at Ralphs Grocery distribution (owned by Kroger) in Compton, California (91 Fwy off Avalon Blvd). Arrived 30 minutes B4 my appointment time to find a long line stretching outside their gate entrance. From the moment I checked with the guard, it was 3 hrs B4 I bumped the dock, and another 5 hrs B4 I drove out the gate. Needless to say, I missed my next pickup appointment.

The shortest time I spent was 20 minutes at a Walmart Distribution in Porterville, CA. Checked with the guard, dropped my loaded trailer at a staging area, picked up an empty trailer at another area, and going out the exit gate 20 minutes after I had first arrived.

Loading time? Two days, but I knew what I was getting into.It was a trade show exhibit in Las Vegas.Dropped my trailer at the convention center.Union workers took care of loading.I never touched a thing.Discount food and some good gambling.I got my detention time and a straight shot to Chicago.I needed the time off anyway.Won $700.00 at blackjack also.I work local now,so my days in Vegas are by plane and vacation time.Even local has its nightmares.I spent four hours on the dock at a food warehouse.Sort and segregate.I only had two pallets of freight, but with over 100 items between the two. They said I was required to put each item on a seperate pallet. It worked out to about 25 pallets, some just one box on a pallet. Now,I know I work local and on the clock but two pallets= equals four hours.Something must be wrong here.
