Smiley 1 What is it with Fred Meyer's receiving!?!?!

The 2 that stick out in memory are the Clackamas Or, and Auburn, WA d.c.'s They take deliveries on an appointment basis, and schedule 40 or more deliveries for the same time. That means you're going to have 40 trucks ARRIVING at the same time. (they'll turn you away at the gate if you're 15+ minutes early) Anybody wanna guess if the area allows trucks to park and wait?
When you finally get THROUGH the gate, the fun begins. Both D.C.'s have you park in a designated staging area, and walk to the recieving office. So you now have 40 Patient drivers waiting for the 1 clerk to check them in.... It once took 4 hours just to get a door ASSIGNED. Then the fun continues waiting once again in line to check with the lumpers. Only 1 hour this time, so I counted my lucky stars... By this time, I'm close to having a stroke! Their glacial pace makes em look like postal workers on thorazine.... Instead of a coronary, I elected to take a wizz.... Insult to injury? There was a line for the bathroom! What often makes it worse, is that the check in process takes so much time, that there's often trucks waiting from the prior appointment time. Who wants to guess how warm/fuzzy THESE drivers are feeling? (laughing) For years, my nephew knew 2 things about trucking: 1. "bobtail" means no trailer, and 2. Fred Meyer's SUCKS! # 25cnts per bad word I say, he'll score $20 every time I have to go there.

Oh man, I have to laugh at this one as my ex inlaws are higher management at the Puyallup, WA D.C. If you're ever in the area and need a place to park (since you can't be 15 minutes early nor 15 minutes late) try the Fred Meyer across the green bridge - instead of turning right onto Meridian (to turn left onto West Valley Ave), turn right and head across the bridge there is a large Fred Meyer on the Right... they have a LARGE parking area and usually don't have a problem with trucks

Don't know what to say about Freddy's DC's though, I try to avoid that area when I'm cruising around, but if my son or daughter want to see trucks we normally cruise on down and get in through the truck entrance (something about special priveledges for having the grandkids of upper management in the car)

Good luck in your delivering to Freddy's DC

Angel

To quote Homer Simpson "Doeh!" If it's any saving grace, the dc's are the only real gripe I have on Freddie's. I know the spot yer talkin about! Next time I find myself there, I'll have to check it out! Thx for the pointer!!

Union = rules, not lazy, go tell that to a Yellow driver when he is humpin his rear off in the middle of the summer, you might get a black eye and your pride hurt, why do you people think unions are lazy? The union doesn't run the operation, management does, the union has work rules that management and workers agreed on, management can still dicipline a union member if the rules aren't followed. don't get mad at the union, thats just like getting mad at a person then calling them fat...your mad at the DC and blaming the union. You should shut off that worthless noise box and quit taking what everyone else has to say to heart and sit back and use your noodle and then form your opinion, think it through driver..you should have plenty of time next time your dispatched to a FM DC..lol.

Go to Fred Meyer DC and talk to any warehouseman, watch the attitude he gives you. I go here all the time. The Lumpers do circles around these fat slobs. Less work for more pay? I wonder what would happen if you fired all Union workers? You would see things get done faster, more efficent, and most of all, you would see TEAM WORK, none of that "its not my job" or "Its almost lunch time again".
