Ok usually takes a LOT to get me going--and we have all been to fresh kill plants and know the DRILL---BUT--this place has go to be the biggest ######## I have EVER had the misfortune of visiting--NO room at all--one big stiny pothole--no decent parking--jockeys are total jerkoffs--NO BATHROOMS--could go on forever--IF possible avoid like CANCER!!!!!!

Guess you don't frequent many pilgrims pride plants. You pretty much described all of our plants. You avoiding just means more loads for me :)

ACtually been to many--and have done LOTS AND LOTS of fresh kill--and understand EXACTLY how it works---BUT--it is the LAYOUT of this plant that is BS--and the lack of any decent safe parking....way the docks are layed oout at the bottom of that hill are bad enuff---but setting up--like most others--some type of area to reasonably and safely park in--isnt too much to ask--and only one I have evr been in without a usable bathroom--and most have an accessable break room of some sort.......

So the Bathroom in the Shipping office doesn't work? Yes I do hate trying to get in and out, but that's just gives us us cantankerous crusty drivers something to complain about. I park over by the drop lot if my load isn't ready or in the back, but I'm usually bobtailed. Also see other drivers parking in the lot. If there is room, but chicken haulers usually are pretty good at finding a place to park. Anyway time to get back to work. Beef is calling.

I actually liked the Gainesville plant more than most but that's probably because I went there so often. It can turn into a gaggle #### pretty quick if it's busy. A lot of the drivers don't know how to get out of the way and still get their business done is the main problem in my opinion.

Don't know or don't bother even trying. Here's some tips at the Industrial Drive plant for people that haven't been there or have and are still confused:

When you turn into Industrial Dr from Queen City Pkwy, enter the first gate on the left. While you're pulling in, look for a spot at the top of the hill (on your left) where they stage trailers. If one is open just back directly in, as you're already set up for it. Bonus, you'll be out of everyone else's way. When you get a door, just go down the alley to the left to make a 3-point turn around and come back the other way to set up on a door. A gold star for you if you are considerate and open your doors and slide axles in the alley so you can go right to the door. Easier to do it there too since you're not on a 8% uphill slope.

If those spaces are full, continue into the alley just past the shipping office. If you crowd the left wall, you'll be out of the way long enough to check in with security first, then with shipping. If that won't work, there's a bunch of room in the back. More staged trailers and an alley leading along the RR tracks to the other end of the plant.

If you're still sorta in the way and have to wait for a call after checking in, go to the staging yard. Circle around the back of the plant and exit the second gate. Turn left (South on Industrial Dr) and it's immediately on the right. It's an old abandoned terminal. The lot is rough, but plenty of room to park undisturbed.

Shipping will tell you if it will be a short or long wait, if you're not a short name for Richard and ask nicely. When it's going to be a long wait, I go right over to the staging yard for a nice nap. Completely out of the way, yet two minutes to get to a door when the phone rings. Go back in through the second gate and you'll come out of the alley up front set up for a door.

Yeah, it's been out of order for the past few months. And yet most of those plants have their own in-house plumbers and maintenance people to keep the chicken line from stopping. I guess they don't know toilets. I use that fun fact to get a higher rate when I accept a load there instead of whining about it. They can pay me a few hundred extra to have to piss in a bottle while I'm there, or hire someone else.

Really? I don't go there often, maybe once every month or two, but they have been cool any time I've encountered one. The last time I was in there, one overheard me getting assigned the door closest to the shipping office (puts the nose of your truck into the retaining wall when backing) and offered to shift a drop trailer in there to give me an easier door. Without me even asking, no less.

For that matter, I haven't experienced any rude behavior at any Pilgrim's plant from anyone working there.
