| There may be a truck here and there that hasn't been governed. There was a cornbinder here a while ago that would go as fast as you dared, until one of the city guys ran his mouth, and the maintanance supervisor showed with his computer and cut it back.

| Yes, all three times Fed-Ex dropped them at the door. When I check the tracking on their web page it said delivered. I called them and asked about my package, they told me it was signed for. They could not find a copy of the signature, when I pressed them for proof. I told them the package contained firearms and I would have to call the ATF and report them as stolen. A few years ago Fed-ex was under investigation for many missing firearms. Mark |

It went back and forth -- UPS insisting that the package was delivered to the correct address and signed for... and the customer insisting that they did not receive the package and there was no one named Weber at that address. We finally requested a driver follow-up... where it was discovered that the driver put the parcel in their Weber grill on the back deck.

| Tales from the dark side... It's sad reading these posts, because I used to work for Fedex ground, as a step van O/O (and made some damn fine money doing it) and I know, that while every company has some bad eggs, most of the guys out of our terminal (482 Detroit) worked effin' hard. I also know I had customers who WOULD NOT use UPS, and others who WOULD NOT use us (fedex). A lot of that has to do with the package handlers (as was already mentioned), there were a few that did a great job, and then there were the rest that were just punching the clock, and would toss as many packages as they could to make their shift end. |

| I'm a little late on this one... I've had bad experiances with UPS, DHL, and Fed EX. Fed Ex was the worst one tho... Driver pulled up to my house, with a $700 Griffin aluminum radiator for my Nova.. which was at least well packed in the box... honked the horn, and by the time I made it out of the front door, the big box cartwheeled out the back (turning my nice new radiator into an aluminum taco) and he sped off like he just shot my dog... now I'm a skinny guy and I move pretty fast... and I dont have a dog. At least it was insured and got replaced. Now I've been on some tight deadlines. I've been hard pressed for time, and I've hated my job. But not enough to do something like that to others property. But maybe thats just me.

| That is you, and a lot of guys at Fedex. However, there were/are guys there that did that all the time. I had a few customers that I would deliver the package, scan it as 'delivered, driver released' and ring the doorbell as I was running for the truck (mostly 'cause if I didn't, I would be there at least ten minutes or more!). And there are guys who do that, because they feel if they don't, they are wasting too much time, and making their day longer than it has to be (or longer than they want it to be). I know a guy who takes a lunch break everyday, and when it gets to 5:30 pm, whatever is left gets brought back for tomorrow. |

| hmm I am an ex UPS stepvan driver, and I never would have guessed that I would be in agreement that UPS is the best of the 3 right now. We were so overworked at UPS and drivers cut so many corners and abused so many boxes I was amazed that we were still in business. I seem to always have problems getting my packages from the other two, but not UPS though. So coming from an ex-UPS driver who cannot stand the company, I think I am pretty unbiased when I agree UPS is the best right now, and thats scary. Wallbanger, why did you stop the stepvan business? Man I have heard horror stories from the FedEX Home Delivery people. Was thinking about doing that until I searched the net and found story after story of people going broke doing it, so I would be interested to hear how you made it work, what kind of pay range one can make doing it, and ultimately why you decided to go OTR instead. Thanks in advance. |
