This place is right near the center of Harrisburg, NC on the northbound side of Rte. 49. Be very careful in the 35 mph speed zone. The local and state troopers watch that very closely and ticket speeders every day and at night. You never know when they'll be there and they hide in nearby parking lots, sometimes. Other times they sit in the median, travel back and forth on Rt. 49 or pretend to be making a left turn but just sit there for speeders.

This is a tight place in the loading zones. If you enter in the back way to unload it's not bad, but for loading, whether on the pavement or at any of the dock areas it can get pretty tight when they are busy.

If you like a clean truck, the only way you'll not need a truck wash afterwards is if you enter and leave on the Millbrook Rd entrance. That's asphalt. If you load in the dirt areas, it's very dusty, red dirt mixed with metal granules. The mud is really nasty. In the summer it is very dusty and dirty. If you are walking on the dock where they load steel, you need to be very careful as they have very little tiny balls of metal that are very easy to slip on and break your neck.

If there is still a black muscle man named John (I think) who's been there for about 40 years, he's a great guy and very helpful and experienced. He knows what he's doing and is very polite, friendly and respectful.

On the other hand, be wary of other guys that work there and have no respect and will just try to order you around on what you need to do. A friend of mine who went there recently told me a guy barked at him, "You need to tarp this!". He told him he didn't and the broker told him so. The guy got angry and said, "I told you it needed to be tarped!" My buddy said, "Hold on, I'll call the broker." My buddy dialed his broker and put him on speaker. On the phone it was decided that if that's what the shipper wanted then that's what he should do. The driver then said, "Ok, that'll be an extra $100" within the earshot of the loader, who got visibly even more angry (probably because of the tarp charge - as if it was coming out of his own pocket). When he was loaded and tarped the guy wouldn't give him the bill to sign, but brought it up to the office while he wasn't looking. After waiting for him to return with the BOL, the guy told him he didn't have it. He found out from someone else that it was up at the office. When he got to the office, he was told the other guy had to be there to get him his bill. He had to wait around again til the guy came back to the office. He said he will never go in there again and his yard is right down the street.

I've also experienced hassles here from guys with bad attitudes, who get upset when you want something loaded a certain way. Hey! This is my load and I'm responsible for how it stays on my truck. With 35 years experience, I think I can make some suggestions and shouldn't have someone give me crap about it. Make sure you bring plenty of padding if you don't want to tear your tarps up on a lot of the stuff they ship. It can be really nasty.

They do receive til late and sometimes ship late so check to see what their hours are and always call with an ETA, so they don't say, "We're not ready for you. We didn't know you were coming." They are known for that. And don't trust your dispatcher, if you have one. Always make the call yourself.

They do have a short scale on site, where you can weigh each set of axles.
