And how long does it take to unload me?!?
    (going on 5 hrs now!)

Since I've been here I've seen 2 collisions, 7 poor approaches, ONE guy GOAL, Speeding mules.

    It's nuts in here!

Been to many customers like that.See they can take their sweet time getting you loaded or unloaded but you best not be late.

I just want dinner before every restaurant in Maine closes. It's not NY, most places are done at 9. I'm starving!

Truck is is empty I have no idea what I'm waiting on.

I think they're on dinner break.

    Irony

Just lucky you weren't there on a Sunday. Maine shuts down at about 1800. As far as the 'so many bad drivers bit'... I can't really answer that. Might have to do with the lack of training programs in the region? NTI (Northeast Tech Institute) and NETTS are the only two I can think of...

The last (and only) time I delivered to this place the shaw's company driver had a trailer disconnect and dumped the trailer on the lot. Watched him not do a tug test, just "hook", set up the airlines and drive off

Wow, revenge of the zombie post.

    I remember that night.

So here's the rest of the story a year later:

The lot wasn't particularly small but a good THIRD of the trucks seemed to have difficulty manuvering in there. It was the highest percentage of incompetence I'd seen in a while. (My outfit doesn't usually handle food so I don't often interact with general freight guys)

I don't usually carry a lot of food in my tractor because 24 days a month I'm local/regional. Sometimes I'll go overnight for a client more than 600 miles away then do general freight for a back haul.

I did get out of there with enough time to spare to get back to the Portland area where there's a mall and some chain restaurants. IIRC I got the truck into the parking lot of a chain restaurant that I'd never be able to get in during peak hours, took up about 9 spaces.

Oh, and it's a good thing I still ran paper logs that night. :D

So, I got this as a home load last week, Infosaur. I didn't see any collisions, but at least 3 really bad set-ups and, yes, jockeys pretending to be race car drivers.
'I'll call you when we're all set.' - I ALWAYS make sure my phone # is read back to me... but after 7 hrs (5.5 on an expired clock, my Mega don't care!) you really wonder, did I mishear the read back?

The best part - 25 miles from home, sleeping on the ####ing shoulder of the exiting street because my clock is dead.

I've done 2 Osco / Jewel runs in the last 6 months. One where everyone was impolite (IL) & this one which was teeth-gratingly slow in every aspect imaginable.

Here's to hoping I don't have to go back anytime soon.
