Also I had to wait 24 hours to get unloaded at Rocky produce in Detroit's produce market TWICE. These people really are in a class of their own, when they don't have storage space for the product you bring them they have no problem using your trailer as their "storage" area. They have ZERO respect for a drivers time or his reefer fuel for that matter.
If you go and try to complain they act like they don't see you or feed some BS run around.

Granted these are rare and extreme examples it will happen to you sooner or later. In trucking no matter who screws up, the driver gets the shittty end of the stick 9 out of 10 times.
Thats when the reefer has a "Breakdown" and you tell them it has to come off now.

Since switching to dry van my times have dropped. Still, I had a Safeway load of paper towels which took like 6 hours to get off the trailer, and the company that made the towels (Potlatch!) took 18 hours after my appt time to make....

Picked up a load of Pepsi bottles (plastic) out of Denver, took them like 30 minutes from start to finish, took Pepsi out of SLC 5 hours....

4000 pounds and five hours.

Most of my waits are 1 to 2 hrs with the very rare exception of 5 or 6 hrs.

The longest I have waited was brings some blow out tools to cap a oil well the had blown. The fire from the well was still to big to get any where near it so I waited 12hrs for it to go down. It makes you feel good when they had you paper work saying all personnel has been evacuated but they are sending you there with the equipment to put it out. Just all warm and fuzzy.

At a place I went to this week. I was parked halfway out into the street with cones and my triangles, they had to hand unload the paper to the fork lift in the back, 3 hours!
to get to that dock, I had to back from an Alley across a 4 lane main street and to a garage door that was not back far enough off of the highway to get all of my truck off of main st.
It was fun getting into that spot.

Wiseguy...
We often have to double park in the Bronx and have labor manually offload product onto the street and walked into facility. Pretty cool stuff. Still clear in less then one hour.

Have you heard of the saying "Hurry up and wait"? You may find this at a few places. We have found most places are 30 mins-2 hrs with the handful of slowpokes thrown in. But if you go in with an attitude or late for an appt time, your wait could be even longer.
