Don't be to picky. Most companies, including swift, have a hiring freeze right now. Get what you can get, I heard the pickins are getting slim. Good luck!

Get the DOT number for the company you are interested in and enter it in company snapshot at safersys.org . Click the SafeStat link on the right . Check out the company's SEA scores and ISS-D rating . The ISS-D will tell you how often you can expect to get checked at scales . High OOS (Out Of Service ) numbers for vehicles indicates the equipment isn't maintained well . High OOS numbers for drivers means the drivers are probably pushed to violate HOS or can't make a decent pay running legally . If a company is decent to work for they don't have to keep sending recruiters to schools . The problem is with more companies closing there are more experienced drivers out of work to compete with .
New graduates should look into driving for an expedite fleet owner . Right now it's a slow season for them but they don't require as much experience for straight truck drivers . Many of them run team and there's a chance they could put you with an experienced driver although team drivers from seperate households aren't encouraged . The pay is more acceptable for husband/wife teams with only one or no mortgage payment .

Don't believe everything the recruiters say!
