take a folding chair with you in the truck. i use a camping chair. nice big , comfy. when the shipper or receiver starts the usual nonsense, take out the chair and sit in it. i have sat in front of the office , but usually outside(IN PLAIN SITE) on the trailer, i flatbed. you may be surprised when folks see you are enjoying the day how that changes things.

LOL Great. It's about time to send out hubby's chair, and when i went with him we carried a grill and charcoal and had a cook out every time we could.
This is a cool idea, and you are right, another trick .. you know you might say im going to go take a nap too. but then again they might just let you sleep. LOl!!!

The chair idea works, When I go to Marinas I do just that. People do move faster because of lack of room in Marinas they just want you out of there.

The chair is a good idea for anytime. I used to get tired of sitting in the cab from Friday til monday, if I got stuck somewhere. If I wasnt in a room, I'd break it out at the T/S and enjoy the sun.

Back in my skateboard days, I got out my guitar and sat on the wagon to play, and within an hour we had 3 guitars, a mandolin and a fiddle just a gittin' it!
One of my best days ever! I didn't know so many drivers played.

I waited for 5 hours for Lowes Home Improvement to unload a LTL of plants one day.Called dispatch about 3 times... Finally put the 48' trailer as close as I could across the front entrance of the store.
Was on my way 20 minutes later, empty.

lowes is awful. stores and distribution are equally bad. a customer approached me about doing multiple drop loads for lowes stores and i had to turn him down. could not become a mobile warehouse for them.

When i was on dedicated i'd just make a phone call and talk in front of them to one of my driver buddies, i'd say something along the lines of "That's fine, i'll make more sitting here today than the loader does all week."

(We made 20 dollars an hour detention gauranteed and it started the minute we got there)

    Usually he would begin quickly.

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that OTR :(
