Some funky little export business in E. Orange NJ. The only exit off of I280 near the receiver required you drive a mile to find an underpass to go under 280 drive 2 miles back the other way to find another underpass - everything else was 10-to-12 foot clearance. The biz was one of 50ish in a really old, dirty warehouse with #### and trash piled everywhere. Entrance to the dock was blocked by all kinds of junk, needed to block off the street to back in - local cops loved that part! Had to call and wait for some old fat guy to show up and offload 50 drums of flammable hm. Kept wondering when I was going to look under some #### and find Hoffa's body!

I hauled Aluminum for Boeing contractors. Deliverd 200 lb pieces to peoples back yards and around circular driveways in neighborhoods in Seattle Area. 40 stop loads, $40/stop, 30,000 of aluminum on a covered wagon. Fun in the sun, pain in the rain. Never had any trouble with room to maneuver.

BTW/delivered butter in 50 lb blocks to Monett MO mines, then went back and hauled it to El Paso TX Safeway Icecream plant. They mixed milk and butter and made icecream.

OK i need some explanation on the cave / tunnel thing on here, lol. While I can see making a delivery into a cave or something...the docks threw me me off. Is there a building in there?

Once they were done mining, and Ameircold bought them, went in, put up walls, added refridgtion units , up ontop of the caves. You can see them from Civil War Road.
So yes, so to speak they did build buildings inside. There is something like 65-70 #'d docks in the whole place, with room for alot more if ever they expand.

Back in '93 or '94, I delivered to a IBP ( a beef processing plant) plant in Kansas. When I called for directions, I was told that there is a truck stop across the street from the entrance to the plant. I had a morning appointment so I got there the night before. Small truck stop with no restaraunt but they had a "cook your own" grill. Just grab pre-made burger patty out of the cooler and throw it on the grill! Well, I got up the next morning and checked in at the plant... told me to back into door and I'll be unloaded in a little bit. While I was being unloaded, I noticed that I was parked next to the incoming live cow entrance. For the next three hours I watched as trailer loads of cows came into the pen.... then enter slaughter house...then heads and houffs would run over my head on a conveyer belt... then they were taking the packaging material off my trailer to pack the hamburger and steaks that they were loading on the next trailer down from me. Once I got empty, I went back over to the truck stop for lunch. I reached in to the cooler for a burger to grill... but I just couldn't do it...I had a morbid feeling in my stomache. Took me 3 days before I could eat beef again.

We just had a delivery to Americold in Carthledge, MO that you have to drive into a tunnel then into a "cave". I guess thats the best way to describe it.
I delivered on top of a mountain in Colorado, just above SNOMASS.
The "road" was little more than a cow-path that wound around and around. I will post pictures later, I know I have some, I saw them the other day, but I just spent two hours looking and didn't find them.
