Yes, sort of. I'm a commercial/instrument rated pilot. Haven't used the commercial part of the rating since I got it back in 1970. I do use the instrument indorsement though. In fact I flew right over Chicago this very day 2 years ago on my way back from Plymouth Rock, MA., to my home in Western Washington.

I have never had a problem with restrooms at a shipper or reciever...First I ask where is the restroom.. usually they tell me how to get to it..if they say they dont have one. I tell them you have two choices..first choice is I use the employee restroom or I do my buisness right there on the dock...I always got instructed on to where the employee restroom is..

A lot of the places I pick up from and deliver to are way out in the woods anyway. No problems with finding the "restroom" there.

That is awesome. I am taking lessons for my private. How many flight hours is it in a Mooney from Chicago to Chehalis? I know driving it's 37 hours clean driving, plus DOT breaks, fueling ,etc. Driving through western Montana and all of Idaho is a pain in the arse. I wish I could just fly past all those mountain grades.

Today I was at a receiver in Temple, Tx (walmart dc) I walked into the driver breakroom on the freezer side. I immediately walked back out and went to the receiving office to report the state of the restroom. There was a brown substance covering the back of the toilet, handles, and the floor behind it.

As much as I hate to admit it drivers have nobody to blame but themselves and other drivers for our lack of facilities. Why should a company pay money to clean up a mess not made by their employees?

That is so sick. Are you sure a driver did that or maybe one of the hombres that worked there?

I understand your point,however receivers unload our trailers and leave a mess ie. wood, cardboard,airbags, etc then we are required to clean it for free, as we generally are paid by the mile.

PS Thanks to driving a truck, I HATE WALMART, I try not to even shop there.

Face it ladies and gents we as drivers are seen by the outside world as lazy and incompotent. As a dispatcher said to me a couple of months ago "All yall do is sit there all day, it isn't like you work for your paycheck". To compound the problem there are MANY trashy drivers out there who don't care about their equipment, their personal hygiene, or the state of areas surround their trucks when they are on break, loading, or unloading. Now I will go to bat and defend many in our industry any day of the week, but after 6 months out on the road you can only play the devils advocate so long before you realize WE are the majority of our own problem. Until our ranks are weeded some to remove the trash, how we can expect those who AREN'T a part of our industry to care or respect what we deal with?

There is a big difference between having to clean up some wood and cardboard and having to clean up human waste.
