As long as you get off at the right exit on 895 and follow the signs, you'll find it.

Let us know how this goes

Let us know how this trip goes for ya, EarthB. When I went to HPM, I got off I-95 and cruised the city streets. Maybe you won't have to do that if you get off 895. Not sure.

Good luck at backin' into that place. Be careful and get lots of help.

It's a typical company truck
It's just all show and no go

I'm gettin' passed by Yella
And even Overnite
I'm gettin' passed by ever' body in sight
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

No, my hometown's nowhere in sight
And if you think I'm pissed off
You're right

Re: Hunts Point Coop, Bronx. Advice>..

easiest reciever to back into in the coop, full warehouse style, liberal parking lot, easy as pie....

Missed my turn onto leggett, but ripped a u-ie, and then had to rip another to make the turn onto leggett, as I could not turn left onto leggett from that position.

Up to Ridgewood in a few minutes, after they unload me here.

How much does it cost to get into that place now?

EB, how much does it cost to get into Hunt's Point Market these days?

When I was driving it was $20. I do remember a good pizza joint inside the meat market compound.

Not what you should be worried about--it costs more to cross the damn bridges. Based on my one and only trip into NYC, I'd MUCH rather drive in NYC than ANY place in LA County. That place seriously sux.

Re: Hunts Point Coop, Bronx. Advice>..

$25 gate fee....

I then went down to ridgewood, pull into the shipper, cramped parking lot, was told my load was scheduled for tomorrow, I was honestly told today, but had i looked at the bills it was set to deliver tomorrow....shipper told me to go back and park on the street, turn to ch4 and he might be able to get me in....

so i circle the block to find a place to park, park, and start to make a sandwich, and get the call for the door....nice

2hrs later i was on my way.....good day.

I much prefer the city so far to Chicago, and LA, no fun in either of those...

Thanks for the advice...

I remember Manhattan

I've been to NYC twice. Once to Hunt's Point, and once to the Marriot on 34th. I made the Marriot run when I had like 3 WEEKS solo experience on a Swift rig. It actually wasn't that bad. I had to pick up a load of wooden fixtures used in infomercials and take them to San Francisco. Or at least I was SUPPOSED to go to the gay bay, until I was told to drop the box in Columbus, Ohio for a cheeseball O/O who didn't like going into NYC. Yeah, I played the schmuck on that run. Never again, though.

When I got to the Marriot, the loading dock was one of those designed for SMALL straight trucks. I had to be loaded curb-side. While being loaded up, people came by and looked at the pretty blue and white rig sitting halfway in the street. I even had a retired 747 pilot climb aboard and check out my rig. He was thinking of getting into trucking, so I had to steer him right. I told him to get a Winnebago and tour the country that way.

As far as weighing L.A. against NYC, I'd rather do L.A. based on the runs I've done in both cities.

I had a load dropping at a reciever called Melba Utica on Utica ave in Brooklyn. I had 2 drops one day and the last at Melba Utica the next day. I decided to press my luck and see if they could unload me. I talked to the reciever. He said he was expecting a Navajo truck but he hadn't showed up yet and if he didn't show at his assigned time, I could have his spot. He didn't and the reciever came out and told me to back in. 2 and a half hours later I was unloaded and on my way.
