Wow!!!! Sounds like things have really changed. We used to call the trip into Hunts point running the gauntlet. You never went in unarmed, and never at nite. I had a friend robbed at gunpoint INSIDE the market. I can only guess they had to clean it up because no one would go there. In the late 80's we got hazarardous duty pay to go on Long Island. It was 40 bucks, same as layover.

A fella cant even compare HP meat market with anything on long island. LI is better than Chitgaco IMO. I have never been INTO the HP compound, though I've driven right past it. I got a chuckle out of reading this thread. Tip made a good post BTW. 10-4 on the 9mm

Hunt's Point is in the Bronx not Long Island. It is off of 895 you get off at Hunt's Point exit and follow the signs. It costs $25 to get in the gate and the place I delivered parking was a little tight but not the tightest Ive place ive had to back in NYC. If you dont miss any turns you are good to go. Its not really that scary there in the daytime. I think the hardest part about NYC is the bridges that are marked 12'8" and are really 13'6 1/2". When they do that it makes their bridge markings completely useless. I end up either watching the truck in front of me or creeping up to the bridge getting the cb antenna under it getting out and looking. That really cheeses off the 4 wheelers but dang it my truck would be very expensive to replace. Those bridge tolls are a real walllet opener/emptier as well.

Correct, huntspoint meat market is in the Bronx and not in long island. I have been to both places more than once, and can tell you I prefer long island. Sand, you are spot on with your last post. I could not agree more. 10-4 on us making it through a posted 12'6" underpass with a 13' 6" refer. I'd love to know how many times I've done that.

a city is a city, is a city... but I agree with Bullwinkle. Boston in some areas can be tough! small streets, tight turns..last time I was there i wished I had a cabover with a 48' trailer! ussually your nerves and the fact that its new or a change is the worst part of going to a new city or area.they are all the same minus some old bridges here and there with clearance issues and rougher than some neighborhoods!
