    Total logistics control - Lebanon, IN - Wrong trailer number

    Ok, I'm in line at the guardshack to leave Total Logistics Control in Lebanon, IN (x139 on interstate 65) RIGHT NOW. (ok now i've pulled up and am at the window)

    Anyway, I came in to pick up a preloaded trailer. I gave them the shipment number and they gave me a trailer number and told me to write the seal number in the corner of the gatepass.

    Now, this is the last time i will EVER do this, but i hooked up to the trailer and pulled it out of the slot before I checked the seal. There was no seal. I took the oppurtunity to open the door and check the freight. It's empty.

    Now, this load is 150 miles and delivers tomorrow, but i dont care because I get a very small bonus for being under a load and on the road for the holiday. Whatever. Nothing could piss me off right now. So I just pull it up to the guardshack with a grin on my face, and i say, "Hey, this trailer is empty!" They double check on the computer, and yup, it's loaded and ready!

    They ended up giving me the seal number thats supposed to be on it. I went and found a trailer with that seal number on it, and here i am. And this trailer shows on their system that it's empty.

    How the hell do you lose a load? That's just.....bad.

    I'll be stopping at the flying J next door for a few hours so I'll post an update very soon.

    ask the UPRR, they once lost two boxcars loaded with newsprint for 45 days

    If that's the only problem you had your doing good. We load several loads a day in there and always have issues. They are simply ignorant people at that place.

    Sounds like my day...yesterday.

    Drop and hook, check in for my papers, and it turns to drop...re-hook, back into 2 differant doors. Then get told SORRY, your trailer is loaded and out front. Could you spot that one back on the line.

    Wow. Thats weird. I've done several loads for ConAgra in care of TLC, and this was the first time i ever had an issue.

    Heh, i had one that was a live unload once. I was told...back it into the dock, dont break the seal. I was very confused about this. I still do not understand how their dock lets them open swing doors from inside and hold them open? wtf?

    Anyway, the guards were cool and I think they were doing a good job. It was the people that work inside that were ignorant. They put the wrong trailer number in on the computer. The guards pulled that info up and did their job. Oh well.

    Yeah the guards are the only ones that have a clue whats going on I think. The people inside definitely don't. I loaded there Monday night and was backed in the door for 2 1/2 hours and nothing. Called the guards on the cb and they said they had to check. Got back to me and said well your product is on an inbound trailer they were looking all over the warehouse for it so I told them where it was so they will load you shortly.

    As far as the doors go they are very wide but you can't really tell because of the dock bump stops. They open the doors, drop the ramp and it has side rails that hold your trailer doors open.

    Roundy's in Oconomowoc, WI is the same way, as are a few of the Gordon Foods doors in Brighton, MI.

    I pull out of TLC in Rochelle, Il for ConAgra, Lamb Weston, and Sara Lee all the time, and never have an issue. However, we have a drop lot there, and also end to have empties there for them.

    We do a lot with TLC in Lebanon, IN. We stopped doing preloaded trailers and do live loads whenever possible now, just because there was always something wrong with the preloads. It should be more convenient to do preloads, but that was not the case with this shipper.

    I've had to call the shipping manager there on a few occasions to get problems straightened out. The main problem is that everyone there is afraid to make decisions. Even the simplest decisions have to be cleared through the chain of command.

    lol i lived in that town for a short time. and if you ever met some of the people there you would undestand how they while its always messed up there

    I just did an Americold load that had that same issue. They had unloaded 2 trailers in 2 doors next to each other, and one was supposed to get loaded, and the other was supposed to go on the lot empty. They loaded the one that was supposed to be empty, and never changed the number on the paperwork. No big deal, we only had 3 trailers there, and I just found the one with the seal number on it, they verified it, and changed the number on the bills. It was an honest mistake.
