    My harddrive crashed and here is the reason.The vents weren't getting air and I didn't have a fan blowing on the laptop to keep it cool.It would have costed $200.00 to have it fixed.So for all you laptop users make sure all the componants are not getting too hot.Purchase a cooling fan.I have one and should have used it everytime I used my laptop.Make sure the vents are always clean.Also some sites to avoid is Craigslist,Facebook which FB is one of the worst and when watching youtube the videos that don't have commercials at the beginning could be full of viruses.Even though it cost me $40.00 to have a diagnostic test done ,it was well worth it because he gave me a lot of helpful tips and advice.He also suggested using a surge protector.But its very important to keep your hardrive cool while in use.He also said its not good moving the laptop around while you're usng it.I don't know if any of you heard of Advance Computers but I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.Thats who was going to do the diognostic test to begin with but this POS associate gave me the biggest attitude.I reported him to the owner hope he got fired.I took my laptop to a place called the computer doctor.

    Just be careful who you visit on FB.I only go to a friends page every now and again.I was surprised too that these 2 sites are bad.

    Your tech doesn't sound too knowledgeable.. more like voodoo (which btw is an awesome expensive video card)
    Covering the undertray vents on your laptop by placing it on the bed, pillow, seat will cause the gadget to suck on the linings and dust off of these surfaces causing it to clog it's core cooling fins and little fan aside blocking fresh air from flowing free.
    Viruses are anywhere and everywhere.
    I fixed people's computers from viruses caught in porn sites as well as computers used for kids watching the mickey club house online.
    Even in forums you can get viruses, phishing, malware and on and on..
    Youtube and fb are domains fighting those everyday.

    Patty, that's good advise, thanks.

    I started bying laptops when Vista came out on a Acer! My problems seem to be more with the screen, seems they don't like being dropped or banged around with the vibrations. I stopped leaving them out of the case when driving. You might consider a solid state hard drive on your next purchase.

    This notebook has Win 8.1 on a Samsung 15 inch with AMD Quad-Core, so far it has handled the road very well. It has a switch for the fan and it cools automatically when it gets hot.

    I didn't like the Win 8 verson at all and upgraded the day I took it out of the case. 8.1 has less problems with mal-ware! They have fixed a lot of the old vulnerbilites with new coding on the OS and it will run some of my older programs like MS Office 2003 pro and Corel Graphics 11 after installing a upgrade patch.

    Hes been doing this 25 yrs he knows something.You might know quite abit but what happens with laptops like I mentioned is a common thing for laptop users that don't think to keep those vent free ect.Some of us have a computer for enjoyment not business purposes so we don't know about all the important stuff.I sure as heck didn't know.

    Windows 8 can be a bit frustrating, I'd like to suggest people to watch youtube videos on how to use it and get tips on there as well. It is very helpful and easy to understand it after.

    laptops get hot. been that way since day one.

    they don't run so hot these days.

    people will surf. and viruses will arrive. nothing can be done about it.

    You know how much a windows 8 disc cost?200.00 before taxes and that was at Target.I couldn't believe it.Howcome you don't like windows 8?
