Missing Georgia Trucker Found Dead In Florida Missing Georgia Trucker Found Dead In Florida 6/13/08 WSBtv.com, GA Quote: The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a truck driver was found dead Tuesday evening in the cab of a tractor-trailer parked at a rest stop along Interstate 95 in St. Johns County. Troopers were on the lookout for a International tractor pulling a white trailer after the trucking company reported it failed to make a scheduled delivery in Miami on Tuesday morning. The information included the fact that the driver, John Harris, 65, of Douglas, Ga. suffered from a heart condition. A trooper saw the tractor-trailer in the south end of the southbound rest stop just after 7:30 p.m. Harris was found unresponsive in the sleeper area of the cab. Rescue personnel were called and pronounced him dead. His family has my condolences. One of my former lead drivers died in a similar way. A few weeks after we had been dispatched with different team drivers, my former lead driver was found dead in the sleeper. He had complained of an upset stomach. His new team driver brought him a 7-Up, but he died of an apparent heart attack. He was only 46. He was also a full-blooded American Indian who received an allotment check every month according to the treaty his tribe had with the Great White Father in Washington. Too bad, he did not live long enough to retire on it.
