| I saw him in concert at a small town fall festival when I was 17. Other than having a bit more of a belly than he did in Smokey and the Bandit, he looked and sounded just the same as he did when he recorded all of his hits in the 70s. If I only had that vinyl still at that time, I would have had something to be autographed. Instead I just got to shake his hand.

| I actually got to meet him in a fascinating way. O' of course I was only a child then but the story remains with me. I just happen to be at the Atlanta International Motorspeedway GA during the filming of Smokey & the Bandit II. My Father had this crazy notion to race his Rig in the GATR 200... Anyway, I didn't learn about the filiming of the movie until I got there so that was a pleasant surprise . At one point during all of this and luckly enough I had access to the Pit area, (as things wasn't so strict as they are today). I wondered over to the Rig that was being used as His Truck for the Movie I believe it was sort of a grey with blue GMC? Nevertheless, there was two women body guards entrusted to watch over the vehicle. They was kindly enough to allow me to crawl up into the truck and look around and permit me to play like I was driving (I guess the ladies just couldn't say no to a cute little boy asking if he could look inside the truck). When I turned to to climb down I was gently grasped from the sides and lowered to the ground. I thinking it was my Father since he had been close by at the time was shocked to turn around and see Mr. Reed himself had been the one to assist me.... I was a bit star strucked to say the least but in true kid fashion. I told him what a really cool truck he had and he laughed and spoke to me a bit, as a crowd had begin to build. Evidently grownups liked the fact a kid was playing interviewer to a Country Star and Actor. I finially asked him if he was really going to drive it or a stuntman. He said "of course I'm going to be driving" Godbless Mr. Reed for I will miss you. |

| Honey Hush,.......A few years back a bunch of us fools use to have Smokey and the Bandit parties, and were known to act out scenes from the movie when we were out on the town....When one of the friends died a few years back his family placed a copy of Smokey and the Bandit in his casket. Thanks for the memories Jerry.......... If you ever get the chance, look up Mr. Reed on you tube, there is some really cool videos there....I'm Gone.............. |

| RIP Jerry He was a great entertainer all the way around. His songs/ballads were great and so was his acting. It's too bad that all the *real* country music artists are departing us. |

| It's not the dates on the head stone that make us remember someone. It's what the little line between those dates represent !

| RIP Jerry. Did any of you seem him on an episode of "Bill Dance Outoors"? It was hillarious. Eventhough I'm a rocker at heart, there are some of those country boys I liked. Jerry, of course, is one of them. He will be missed.
