| Are the Miami Dolphins the worst team? Quote:
(December 9, 2007) — ORCHARD PARK — Somehow, John McKay managed to maintain his sanity and his sense of humor while coaching the Tampa Bay Bucs to an NFL-worst 0-14 record in 1976. Asked what he thought of his expansion team's execution during that historically lamentable season, McKay quipped, "I'm all in favor of it."
Fans of the 2007 Miami Dolphins undoubtedly are all in favor of the execution of their players and coaches, too, because, at 0-12, this once proud franchise is free-falling toward a football futility mark that will supplant McKay's infamous "Yucs" in the record books.
Imperfection definitely is within reach of the Dolphins, who will play the Buffalo Bills at the frosty Ralph this afternoon.
Miami's last best shot at victory may have come at home last week against the woeful New York Jets. The Dolphins entered as 11/2-point favorites against their 2-9 AFC East rivals. Perhaps spurred on by a Rockne-like pre-game pep talk delivered by Michael Jordan, Miami actually led 13-10 late in the first half.
But as it turned out, even his Airness couldn't lift this motley crew from its misery. The Dolphins' spirited start proved to be nothing more than a tease as the Jets responded with 30 unanswered points in a 40-13 rout. After the game, you sensed a mutiny mounting in Miami, as despondent Dolphins veterans spewed venom to reporters. | http://www.democratandchronicle.com/...712090331/1007 |
