NASCAR... changed forever?

It was announced the 2008 Bristol Motor Speedway seating areas would be "smokeless". See [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link.

"We're here at Bristol Motor Speedway, and the race has been red flagged while the officials deal with the problem of a fan smoking in the grandstands....."

NASCAR has gotten so politically correct I don't see why they even bother to hold races any longer. Just put your pretty little boy drivers in bathing suits and hold a beauty contest to decide the title.

I like the idea, not because I dislike smoke, it is because I dislike seeing the MILLIONS of Cigarette butts around seating areas at any raceway.

Smokers, dont throw your butts on the ground...It is like a barrage of butts everynight while I drive around the roadways...

Well, I have seen first hand the stuff left by people at the races. SIGH

We are talking cups, cans, coolers, hats, etc........you name it.

And if you have ever seen where they park their trailers, motor homes....it gets worse...sigh

What a mess! There are places for them to throw their garbage, but for some reason they find leaving it all over the grounds area, is the best.

YOUR NOT KIDDING. HAVE BEEN TO TX MOTOR SPWY AFTER A FEW RACES. YOU CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MUCH CRAP 225,000 FANS{?} LEAVE BEHIND. AND SOME OF THE WORST ARE THE PEOPLE W/THE $500,000 MOTOR HOMES. ROTTING FOOD, DIAPERS, AND A LOT WORSE. I WOULD CHEW A CIG BUTT BEFORE SIGNING UP TO CLEAN UP. AND THEN THERE ARE ABOUT 5000 PORTA POTTIES THAT YOU CAN SMELL FOR ABOUT 5 MILES. PEEWHEW!

Every other professional sporting event in the country is held in stadiums and arenas that are smoke free in the seating areas. I don't see where this will be a problem. NASCAR fans will just have to get over it.

Yeah sure wouldn't want to breath any cigarette smoke. Might interfere with that 112 octane fuel being burned at the rate of about 1500 gallons per hour. Or the charcoal and wood smoke from a few thousand barbque grills. Or the fumes from 40,000 cars, buses, haulers, etc. No, that would be criminal.
