The sad reality is, until money finally grows on trees, someone will have to help pay down the $10 trillion debt...Clinton left office with a budget surplus...unfortunately, it was too little, too late to attempt to bring down the national debt. 8 years of Bush economic policies, starting with $630 billion in tax cuts for the wealthy (reversing Clinton's tax rates) have caused a deficit for years now, year after year. I'm no economist, but I can't see how a little spending cut here and there will do anything to help...someone has to pay.

It was a predicted surplus based on a growing economy
The problem is it started to nose dive in his last year and kept on going
Another thing that is unfairly put on Bush

No, it wasn't a predicted surplus...it was predicted, based on the actual, albeit small surplus, that the national debt could be paid off in 15 years under Clinton's plan. The surplus was real.

The national debt did increase by about $1 trillion during Clinton's 8 years...the national debt also increased during Bush's 8 years...by about $6 trillion.

The Congressional Budget Office must have the numbers all wrong...
