Limbaugh, Checketts interested in Rams

Quote:
ST. LOUIS (AP) The lowly Rams have someone who loves them.
Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said Tuesday he is teaming up with St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts in a bid to buy the Rams, owners of the NFL's longest losing streak at 14 and just 5-31 since 2007.
In a statement, Limbaugh declined to discuss details, citing a confidentiality agreement with Goldman Sachs, the investment firm hired by the family of former Rams owner Georgia Frontiere to review assets of her estate, including the NFL team.
Limbaugh also declined to discuss other partners that might be involved in the bid, but said he and Checketts would operate the team.
"Dave Checketts and I have made a bid to buy the Rams and we are continuing the process," Limbaugh said.
Forbes magazine has estimated the Rams franchise has a value of $929 million.
Frontiere's children, Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez, inherited 60 percent of the Rams when their mother died in January 2008. Billionaire Stan Kroenke of Columbia, Mo., owns the remaining 40 percent. It wasn't clear if the Limbaugh/Checketts bid was for 100 percent of the Rams or just the share owned by Rosenbloom and Rodriguez.

Don't hear about any Liberal commentators with that kind of coin.

What's that tell you?

Sharpton seeks rejection of Limbaugh

Quote:
ST. LOUIS -- The Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson attacked the bid by Rush Limbaugh to buy the St. Louis Rams on Monday, saying the conservative radio host's track record on race should exclude him from owning an NFL team.
Sharpton sent a letter to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, arguing that Limbaugh has been divisive and "anti-NFL" in some of his comments.
Jackson said in a telephone interview that Limbaugh had made his wealth "appealing to the fears of whites" with an unending line of insults against blacks and other minorities

Athletes Won't Play if Limbaugh the Owner

Quote:
Rush Limbaugh's bid to become a part-owner of the NFL's St. Louis Rams has drawn opposition from some of the league's players, who have said they would not play for the conservative radio talk show host.

"He can do whatever he wants. It is a free country. But if it goes through, I can tell you where I am not going to play," New York Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka said.
Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic of ESPN's "Mike and Mike in the Morning" told "Good Morning America" today that they're interested in the action that will follow all the talk from both Limbaugh and his potential players.
"The reaction is overwhelming.," Greenberg said. "It just goes to show that Rush Limbaugh is one of the most polarizing figures in American society."
Golic predicted that a lot of the same players who are speaking out against Limbaugh now, threatening to leave the team or the NFL, would be back on the field even with Limbaugh as part-owner.

I don't know what you consider Oprah Wimprey...but she's many times wealthier than limbaugh...

If she wanted to by a team...she wouldn't need a group...she could buy it out right...$$

Limbaugh dupes his audience by telling them that his exclusion from the NFL bidding process was or is due to the NFL rejecting 'conservitism'...what a farse...and he knows it...

Infact the NFL is known as the No Fun League by many players due to their strict abherence to dress code and player conduct on the field...

Many of the NFL owners are already 'conservitave'...and records show donate more to the Rebublican party than to Democrats...

Rush got rejected by the NFL due to his talk radio show antics...not due to the fact that he's conservitave...

I'm sure had Sarah Palin or Goerge Bush Jr or Trent Lott or Straun Therman or Jack Kent, had put in bids...they would of been accepted...why? Cause their much more responsible with their words...

If people think the antics on Rushes show represent conservitave values...their mistaken...

His show represents entertainment...and as such...he must do and say things to generate listeners. It's all a business...even he'll admit that...as do others in the industry.

Politics and sports just don't mix together well...politics divides people, sports tends to unite...(unless your rooting for opposite teams).

People turn to sports to escape politics...not to be immersed in it...

Rush was reject by the NFL cause he's immature...his supposed conservatism had nothing to do with it...

Exactly what antics are you referring to?

I do agree that politics is divisive, and that Rush is definitely political. If that is what is forcing Rush out, why am I forced to tolerate Keith Olberman on Sunday Night Football?

I'm sorry, I don't even know who Keith Olberman is....

And the antics I'm refering to is poking fun at peoples sensitivities...whether racial or sexual or political...he makes a living out of agitating people, angering people, antaganizing people,

I've heard him call the president a 'fool' and a 'idiot' ect....many find that highly disrespectful of the office and classless....

He's also the voice for many as well...but I guess not enough to make a difference to the NFL...

It's all in how you say things...I can express every single sentiment Rush does, but in a way that would bring people together rather than divide...

he's layed his own tracks...he can't now turn around and expect to be loved and embraced by those he's hurt and insulted over the years...

More specifically though...what's 'forcing Rush out' is capitolism....something he believes in...the NFL is about making money $$...and they, a private enterprise, don't want anything jepordizing their bottum line....

It's simply a business decision...

Keith is a maggot that works for MSNBC and is far more insulting to any thing conservative and American than Limbaugh ever thought about being. He is also on every Sun night football broadcast on NBC.
Rush was right. Obama is a liar and an idiot. Insulting to the office I guess , but none the less true.
Many find other owner s antics such as gangta rap and cop killer videos very offensive. But they got a franchise didn't they? I don't care if he got his team or not. The problem is when the rules for who gets in are abused like they were here. If you're a minority and scum you're in. If you're white and conservative forget it.
