I've have experience but my dad doesn't. SRT said I could sign on as solo and he could go out with a trainer for 240 hours and then they'd put us in a truck teaming. I have to consider his lack of experience in choosing a company and there are a few I already KNOW I won't consider.
I really need some straight answers here not just a bunch of mealy-mouthing.
Thanks a lot and God bless.

I think Watkins & Shepard will let him train with you, not positive, but worth a phone call.
Also, Central Refrigerated, unless that's on your NO list.
Others to check are System Transport and Fairchild Freight.Rob G Thanks this. -
Thanks Chinatown. I considered Central but don't know anything about them either except for info on their website. Seems they like to lease a lot and we're not interested in that. And you know in here weeding through the good and bad trying to find accurate info about a company can be a little like pulling teeth at times. Might check out System as well. I believe they run to Alaska and my brother lives in Anchorage. Don't know much about Watkins either but I've seen them on the road a lot. Never heard of Faifchild but I'll look. I appreciate your reply.

As far as SRT is concerned, they are a great company for O/O. I don't know that much about the L/P plan.
I'm not a company driver so take this info with a grain of salt. From what I understand, it sucks to be a company driver here. Not allowed to put an inverter in the trucks, forced dispatch and the whole nine yards. I have to believe there are way better training companies out there that you and your father can sign on with. Now with that said, I know there are company drivers here that are happy so like I said, take it all with a grain of salt.
If I were a company driver I wouldn't be here with SRT. That's just keeping it real with you. I wish you and your dad the very best.Rob G Thanks this. -
Thanks psychocreep for the honest answer. We're still looking around and gathering info. Seem to be kinda limited on our options because of the situation but it'll work out one way or another. Trying to work inside of a timeframe too so that doesn't help but we don't want to make an uninformed decision. Thanks again.

Yes, not too many success stories with the lease programs. Fairchild Freight runs teams hauling produce mainly from the Southwest, but also all over, picking up produce and delivering to Alaska. Systems Transport has flatbed & reefer division & runs 48 states & Alaska. Anyway, best wishes.
Rob G Thanks this. -
check out cfi/ conway truck load for teams .....ran with them as a team driver when i first got out of school did real well (of course trucks were faster then) and they will let you two run together after 7500 miles with a trainer ....
Rob G Thanks this. -
i second psycho creeps analysis of srt very happy as an o/o don;t really think i would be here as a company man very long .....of course don;t think i would be anywhere very long as a company driver so take that impression with a grain of salt

SRT is a dirt bag company! They are nothing but a bunch of snakes! Good company for owner operators what a joke! Pay attention look around how many true owner operators you see? As for lease drivers refuse one Tyson load! You're guaranteed to get your walking papers!
