If your concidering SRT please review the following:
    1) Orientation is 4-5 days long that you dont get paid for but must log in your logbook
    2) 550 miles by company policy is concidered to be team miles. (so if you run team prepare to do a lot of sitting)
    3) 68 mph truck and if you dont keep your idle time low they turn your truck down to 65.
    4) All of the trucks are keyed the same so forget about securing your truck.
    5) Millions spent on the new yard but yet still cant get your truck fixed right or even washed in their new wash bay, (they will spray water on it to wet the dirt and thats concidered washed)
    6) Owner is a business man not a trucker so has no idea what trucking is like.
    7) If they promise you something as in pay or bonus GET IT IN WRITING cuz they dont live up to any of it.
    8) Team pay is advertised at .47 p/m when in reality it is based on each team members exerience. (we were promised .47 but ended up with only .38)
    9) If you leave your truck on the yard while you take home time, they will put someone else in it while you are gone (so empty the truck out each time if you dont want someone else taking or using your property)
    10) WATCH YOUR BACK, cus noone else there will. they have 20 to 40 new hires each week in orientation. that tells you they have 20-40 drivers a week quitting. Ask yourself WHY?

alot of that is false i am a driver there you get alot back to back team runs .well you must watch your idle anyways.your pay did you ask for the per diem pay that lowers your per mile pay any ways you must be looking at the taxed miles .to get that low per mile pay every company has high turn over there just weeding out the dead weight drivers and there are alot of dead weight drivers out there.

But Hot rod, I and my wife are still here at SRT and out of 6 months we have had only one month of 20,000 plus miles as a team. We have no late loads, no breakdowns, or anything against us, but yet we continue to have to sit with runs that would keep a solo busy but not a team. You may enjoy this company running as a solo cause yes i admit they can run a solo hard but they have no business running teams. Are you aware of the multiple accounts that SRT lost recently that they had locked in by buying out covenants reefer division? Most of those accounts jumped off when SRT did the buy out. But now that my wife is closing on having her 6 months experience we can now have more choices and its time to leave thankfully. But you should be aware HOT ROD (not in a SRT truck you aint) that this site is so we can individually list our experiences with companies. You should not deny someone elses claim when you havent driven a mile in their truck. Your miles may be good but not everyone's is. Try running as a team, invest yout time and money and see if your still happy working for SRT.

One last thing Hot Rod, have you been on the yard lately?? It might surprise you!! For a company that has 500+ trucks its a bad sign to see over 150 trucks sitting on the yard. Yes we counted them. That was on 7-8-07 thats over 25% of their fleet empty!! But that is my INDIVIDUAL report.

SRT has always had a huge turnover. I was foolish enough to be talked into returning to them.....lots of promises etc etc etc. I lasted 3 weeks the second time.

They can't keep solos running, much less a team.

With that said... they do have their favorites. And they will always get miles. But that's total BS in anybodies book. Especially when you consider that you need 2000 miles to make your "bonus" for the quarter, and you have a Portland, OR to Jersy run under you, and they try to make you give the run up to another driver who also needs the miles to make his bonus....This intelligent driver was dumb enough to try and thank me for helping him to make his bonus....before the swap. I dunno if he made it or not...I did.

SRT said the driver had a death in the family....So much for honor among thieves eh?

I wish I would have read your comment before I left for Orientation, I would have saved myself alot of grief. I want to confirm all that you say is true. IF their is anyway to get the word out (this is it). I have a few more to add:
1.) SRT has a lot of policies (they start with the "words" we don't want your money (but) if you don't adhere to our policies we will fine you. The sign on bonus is a joke, 300$'s but if you have to work for us for six months (if you quit before that) they will take it out of your last check.
2.) If you don't enter a Mac 01, (morning check call) they will fine you 25$.
3.) They have condo trucks, they (recruiters) will tell you what they won't tell you is they are only for their teams and trainers. They will give you a mid-roof so if you have family might as well forget it. They do offer a rider program but where do you put them in a mid-roof? Oh! something else on this subject be prepared to have a PHOTO id for your kids (even if they are 11 yrs old) , I was told I can go do the DMV for this.
4.) Regarding all the trucks keyed the same, if you get locked out "you" can always look for another SRT driver to "help" you out. SRT policy for how to secure your truck is- RUN the seatbelt through the door handle. (YEA right) but they don't have one for leaving your truck to take a Shower or to get something to eat (they will not assume any liability for your belongings).
5.) Regarding the PET POLICY; yes! they do have one but be prepared to put up a 500$ non-refundable deposit.
6.) Logging for our class we were told to log all (4) days as OFF-DUTY. Funny cuz we were in class from 8am-5pm on those days. The Check-Calls include all 4 lines of your log.
7.) They will the truck down to 65mph so if you get one of these trucks from a previous driver plan to waste the whole day to get tuned back up (68 mph) or to safe time just keep it down.
8.) They will pay for IDLE-AIRE, but you must keep your idle down to company policy (but talking to drivers) they might reimburse you.
9.) You need to ask for a expense auth. in order to get paid for the item, they will not take a receipt. There are four things you don't need a E/A, I can only remember (2) scale, tolls.
10.) They use COMDATA for their fuel but this is also your PAY card, one card one PIN number TWO different usage, any time you get a E/A, you need to register a com-check everytime get anything done they will reimburse the card so you will have to wait on them (SRT) to put the monies on the card.
11.) 40$ for drug test cut into 3 weekly draws but of course after 90 days of employment you will get it all back.
There is a lot of things I can tell you about SRT they are still fresh in my mind. One thing I can tell you everyday 3-4 SRT drivers quit, When the week was finished more 3/4 of the class was not "happy", 1/4 of them quit. They class is a mixture of exp and novice drivers and you are talked to as if you have no experience at all.
There are believe it or not HAPPY drivers at SRT but this is one company is not for me. I personally want to make money not worry about it going back to them if I forgot to do a morning call. BTW even the drivers' book needs to be turned in if you leave the company (one way or the another) it will cost you 25$

I would definately watch your back at SRT they either give you no miles or more then enough miles if all you want are good miles you can get them IF you have the right dispatcher, when I was there Roger was the one to have. Get used to clarifying everything if they tell you something on the phone have them send you the info on Qualcom and save info, they will not stand behind it later.

Old Trucker.Has told the whole story ,about how they are at Southern Refrigerated. I was a solo driver at SRT.The mile's i was running less than 400 loaded and maybe 200 to 300 empty miles, everyother day.
    I started at 36.5 cents a mile,next thing i know i am at 33.5 cent mile
12 cent per dim with 21 cent a mile, you really have to watch your pay.
And I was never late, never had problem loads, always swapping with other drivers, that were going home to clean their trucks out.May the 19th 2008
was my last day of duty..Seven years and Srt could not explain to me
why miles were so low, they had no idea. And I do Carry a Hazmat,Passports ,No accidents,No tickets,Several Dot Class 3 inspections>with no violations..SRT HAS CHANGED>BEAWARE OF SRT..YOU WILL NOT MEET YOUR PERSONAL GOALS
