Millis Transfer has an excellent CDL program and those drivers average $50K per year.

Look at Central Refrigerated and Prime Inc. if money is an issue.

I read somewhere that Millis sometimes will finance the $500.00, but maybe call and ask.

Also check CRST, their training if free if you agree to work there 8 months.

I tried prime, they want 5 yr verifiable work history, which I don't have, as I was a stay at home wife that recently got divorced... I need a company that don't ask for that or is lenient in that area...

Georgia will pay for private CDL school using money from lottery proceeds. Ask at the unemployment office about the Hope Grant.

Some companies accept a notorized letter signed by family or friends that you were unemployed and a stay-at-home mom or wife. Ask companies if they will accept this letter; most will.

I think any of these companies you go they will make you pay, and you will have to stick with them till it is paid off. And yes, check the Hope Program that we have in Georgia, I am not sure if that program applies for CDL, but won't hurt a try. Good luck Ma'am!

Here it is, Georgia's Hope Program does pay CDL.

    Workforce Investment Act Grant.

The Workforce Investment Act helps laid off workers, veterans and people with disabilities obtain new job skills. Financial aid information and career counseling is provided at One Stop Career Centers located across Georgia. The One Stop Career Center has a list of Workforce Investment Act-funded CDL training courses. Eligible workers can apply for help to have their training course paid for. Workforce Investment Act funds go toward the costs of tuition, books and supplies.

HOPE Grant and Zell Miller Scholarship

Georgia's HOPE grant can also cover the cost of obtaining a CDL. The HOPE grant is available to residents of Georgia attending an eligible school and covers a portion of the cost of tuition. To qualify for a HOPE grant, you must have graduated from high school with a minimum 3.0 GPA. All CDL courses in the Technical College System of Georgia are eligible for the Zell Miller Scholarship, which covers a portion of the tuition costs. To qualify for the Zell Miller Scholarship fund, you must have graduated from a HOPE-eligible high school as the valedictorian, or graduated from high school with a minimum 3.7 GPA and minimum score of 1200 on the SAT

every trucking co requires some sort of work history
even if it is you didn't work
I was self employed letter from my accountant sufficed
your tax documents should show you didn't work
people stay home taking care of aging parents
    letters from doctors suffice
do not assume you can't get there from here
