As a former O/O for 17 yrs, And tough times i found myself searching for a decent company driver position.I mean lets face it,Let someone else pay the fuel, tires, clutch ,maint, tolls, lumpers ect ect.Anyway all said and done SRT looked and promised the sun and half the orbiting planet's.The Orientation was long and boring.Nevermind the 1 week of BS without getting paid.We all know you gotta take the good with the bad so what the hell.Anyway 5 days after orientation began i was assigned to recover a truck in Long Beach Ca,,They promised 35.5 cpm on the ride out,,,,But only paid 17.5cpm,,Because i had to split it with another driver for the ride out there.Ok round one to SRT.That should have been the final insult. But no,,i figured it can't be this bad from here out so i stuck with it like a good lil soldier. So four weeks later i am now sitting at home waiting to start driving for another carrier.Long story shorter,,If you enjoy all the emotional games and sitting days at a time,Then this company is for you.
I mean the truck i was assigned to had a drive axle that was walking so bad that beginning a pull up a hill the axle would jump fwd enough to throw all of your change and your cold drink out of the cup holder. After repeated attempts of Quail com's to the maint dept i was told to just deal with it and that they would get me in the texarkana term for a swap out.So three weeks later and this is where it get's interesting.I was offered 3 different units to choose from. Now to give you a time line here this happened on a sat afternoon,,,,Orientation had ended and 39 units assigned to new drivers by thurs,,Of the three units left to choose from on the yard, one was so nasty and unclean that i climbed out quicker than i got in.The second was a no show, meaning it was not even on the property,The third a fairly nice 08 condo with minor damage and would have been acceptable however the QC had ben torn out of the wiring harness by my guess the last pissed off driver. So knowing that i would have to wait on maint for 3-5 days to re wire the QC i decided to just cut my losses and opt for resigination.Of course they said that they didn't want to lose a good driver. And i said that i didn't want to stay with a Poor And Mismanaged company. So in short,,Dispatch would tell you anything to get you to do what they wanted,Then come short, WAY SHORT .Recruiting promised things that they had absolutely no controll over.So in parting i would say that joining the SRT team was one of the most worst decisions that i can remember making during my lifetime of bad decision making.I will not look back upon them in a positive light nor will i ever consider referral to another driver.Maybe i just needed to vent,,now don't get me wrong,,during the month of Dec 08 i took 6 days off for X mas,and still turned 12,679 mi for the month. But i was not prepared for the crap they dished out,,,And as you can see i did not stick around to give them anymore chances to Double Down at my Xpense.SO a word to the wise.
Look once,Think Twice and make your own decision about going onboard at SRT. i could deal with the coming out of a 120mph Pete to a 64mph Frght Shaker although it was a lil rough being passed by school busses and Knight trucks. Now as far as the engines in their trucks,,sure thay had the horsepower,,those D-6 Detroit/Benz 580HP but running 800 mi a day and only logging 600 just to make money sucks.
BESIDES,,When you show up for Orientation on man morning and find 37 new hires in the class,,,Warning Bell's and Whistles should be telling you to Run not Walk! ! ! ! ! ! And orientation is every monday......

I give this Co a Pucker Factor Score of less than 10%

I was with SRT for four and a half months in 2010. I kicked butt with them the first six weeks I was out. I didn't go home the first time until I had run with them for six weeks. Was home for four days. After I went back to work I couldn't get a load to run over 700 miles. After four weeks of that I raised hell and finally got some decent miles. There is rampant incompetence in operations. EXAMPLE:

I picked up a load of frozen bread in Seattle going to New Hampshire. Four pallets, 3600 pounds. SRT said pre-cool and run at -20. When I arrived at customer they asked me to lower temp to -10 and run at -10. BOL said -10. When i sent my loaded call in with the temp, dispatch told me to change the temp to -20. I explained to them that customer said run at -10 and the bol said -10. They insisted I change the temp to -20. I didn't change it because I knew they were wrong. I kept getting messages about changing it and kept replying that customer said -10, BOL says -10. After a day of this, they wanted me to fax in the BOL because they wanted to "verify" the temp requirement. I faxed it and then they said run it at -10.

I asked them why you didn't just take my word for it? What possible benefit is there for me to run the temp lower than what you are requesting? I just got a bunch of bee ess from them. I had other issues similar with those people as well. Majority of people there walk around with their noses in the air and treat the drivers rudely.

Lol, this sounds like my experience with USA Truck. Was my first company. I guess these big companies just don't care. When you think about it, they make millions a day, and the driver turn over rate is one new driver for every truck per year. End of the day they only care about the loads, not who drives them. May I ask who you went to work for after?

Oh ok, here we go. I've gotten good at interpreting these reviews., pulling a hill and change jumping out of the cup holder?..????....... I would love to here srt's version of this story, what blew it was when you said they offered you a unit that didn't have a qualcom., these post are amusing. Why didn't you just say , "I'm a big truck driver, I have a cdl and my shet don't stink.,
