    The bad:
The qualcomm directions are out of date and sometimes inaccurate. Of course
like most companies the people in the office have no idea how bad, bad directions
can be to a 60 foot vehicle.
The equipment isn't horrible but could be better. I've been told they pushed the limit
from 500,000 to 600,000 miles before they toss'em.
Lots of overnight 300-500 mile runs.

    The good:
Since I've been in my own truck (over a month now) been home every weekend.
Never sat empty longer than an hour.
When something is wrong with the truck, no hesitation it gets fixed.

    Conclusion:
Yes the pay ain't great but as long as you keep your paperwork straight and always
on time, they stay off your butt. My plan is to use this company to get my foot in
the door than leave on good terms in about 3 years.

    Baack Thanks this.

well for your information, the directions were put in by the drivers. also some of the directions were changed by drivers that do not know the right from the left.

as for the trucks, well, with all that went on a year ago, and more than likely still going on, he(the owner) can not afford to trade off the trucks like he use to.

as for getting the trucks fixed, they have to, because they are leased trucks.
not sitting longer than an hour, just wait til you got a year in. it will change.

they run the rookies more than the veterans. they make more money off the rookies.

for the equipment, well, when you get some rookies that can't back up, or do not know how to judge distance or know their surroundings, they can cause damage.

i worked for them for 15.5 years. i know. i worked for them when they had the flat top trucks, and no air ride cabs.
no heat or air in the sleepers.
when i started with them, the starting pay was .20 cents per mile.
for keeping paperwork straight, that depends on how you get dispatched. they will push your limits.
then you will learn to be creative.
then they will call you in because your fuel did not match your logs.
or they will say you are missing logs.
missing logs will happen, always. and it is never their fault. even though you sent them in.
    so watch your back.
be warned, they do play games.

I got great miles this week......
Every week my miles increased....started with 1500 now 2500 is easy.
Let me breakdown my week u count the miles:
Aurora, IL to Griffin,Ga to College Park, Ga to
Indianapolis,In to Greenfield,In to johnson(maybe jackson) city, tn to
Kingsport, Tn to Florence,Sc to Columbia,Sc to Cornith,Ms...

Come to your own conclusion....But this week will pay the bills....and some. I don't understand
why someone with more senioirity would get less miles.

As for being creative with logs.....that's all I know.....My 7 hours in Greenfield
getting loaded(I was awake b****'in at the shippers(thanks Avery Dennison)
was logged as my 10 hr break. As for fuel stops logged correctly. If you can't cheat your logs
with fuel stops....than you can't with any company.....Welcome to cheatin logs 101. As for
missing logs....I turn in my trippaks ASAP....for them losing them....may happen, and
not looking forward to it due to no trippak no pay.
I've been following your posts and I must ask....What was your serious "screw up"?

first and only time i laid truck on its' side. others who rolled them 4 differant times are still there.

as for trip pack pay, you use trans flo to scan paperwork. they still say they did not get logs.

remember, i said i was there for 15.5 years. i put my heart and soul into that company. i did dispatch and safety, and shop favors.
what did i get, fired. 1 screw up. no second chance. lose car. lose home.
what it comes down to is, they only care about padding their pockets more. get more rookies. get rid of old timers that are at top pay, or have medical conditions, to save money.

god help them. he almost had to close the doors twice.
once in 2009, and again in 2010, when he had to get plates.
he cancelled the insurance to get money for plates. money drivers paid for health insurance, went for the plates.

like i have said, i stuck with the through thick and thin, and they would not give a second chance. they even said i could reapply as a rehire in 45 days, yeah right! dumb liers. and they do it best. lye and tell you what you want then stab you in the back.

yep, you get alot of miles. in the first year. then by the 3rd year, look out. they start looking at how to get rid of you. because the government stops giving a kick back to the company for hiring students.

simple, government pays your wages( or a percentage). for up to 2 years. so what star gets paid goes in the owners pocket.

why pay a driver at top pay, for 3000 miles, when they can make money from a rookie who is at the lower end of pay scale.

I have been there for a year, and all I know is one thing they are, and will find every way to mess with you, so be forwarned. As for cheatin logg's, it is just part of life at Star, so you better learn because all that nice hometime your gettin will slowly dissapear.

There is two star's in the company listing.
One for star(tn) and one for star transportation. All they need to do is
change this board to star transport and it would fix it.
For everyone else I appreciate your input. My plans are not
to stay with star long. I'm just using them for a reference.
I'm fully aware of there false reporting to DAC and ready to fight it
    When the time comes.

P.S. Ill be away from home this weekend, first time missing home for 7 weeks.
