30 miles from there is a cheaper school that is fully accredited. It is in mayfield KY. It is under CDL training services, but is tied in with a local college that gives college credit as well. West KY Tech. WKCTC West Kentucky Community & Technical College

 

Sorry to hear this. As a driver with many ( to many I think) years of asphalt behind me I can probably enlighten you on why this happens.

Companies have a great turnover in drivers yearly. There are 2 different kinds of drivers. One is the " I want a new truck, a great route, lots of miles, and be home on week ends " driver and the other is " I will put up with a WHOLE lot out of this company until I have earned their respect and won't b* driver". Making life an asphalt hell for new drivers is a way of weeding out the two. As a past O/O that hired drivers, I would prefer the driver that will not complain, figure out things for themselves, and be patient driver. The company will be making a substantial investment in you ( your tuition ) and they want to know you ARE worth their time and money.

There is not ONE trucking company that has no compaints against them. Trucking is a genericaly DIRTY business but it is what it is. There is good and bad in ALL of them. it really IS what you make of it. I wish you much luck in your profession. Be safe.

I have been with Star for 1 yr. Its a great place to visit but i wouldnt want to live there. lol

 

Keep in mind, theres another Star in IL, its called star Leasing, based out of Fayetteville NC, but they have a hub in Menteno IL. They're pretty good, every company has some bad things, but if you are willing to work, and not cry over every little bump in the road, Star Leasing is a good choice.

 

yeah star is very under paid and they never give raises ther is guys ther that have been ther for 15 to 20 years and are only making 36 cpm that is nuts ther are other companys that are starting a guy that has 15 to 20 years at like 40 to 45 cpm and then they treat the new guys like gold and treat the guys that have been ther for a long time like sh**

 

will star pay for me to go to school then go to work for them ??
