i got a few concerns about this company, i worked for star transport from morton IL, exactly 1 year ago from today, i am now thinking of going back, i only have 4 months OTR exp. and its with them, i havnt drove since then, i called and taled to a recruiter tina about a month ago and she said their only hireing people with 2 years experience, well i called back yesterday and told her i only have 4 months experience , and thats with them, now she is telling me that i can come back, i think it sounds fishy that within 3 weeks they changed their mind and decided that i was once agin qualified, my qustions are,,, can star take me to oreintation on false pretenses and end up sending me home?,, she also said that their is no eed to re-fill out a aplacation since i will be a re-hire,,, can star be lieing about that because i also have no acceptence letter from them either?,,, she set my orentation date for march 4th, im scared like hell because i want to drive agin and their the only place that will except me, other than westren express, and both companys are awful,, i just need more experience,, i cant aford to quite my job and go to star if their lieing to me, or going to some how or way kick me out of orentation, could anyone give some soild advice before i go???

Stay far away from Star. I'm with them now, but am leaving in about 2 weeks. Too much BS. Watching idle time...fuel mileage...and they will drop your pay scale if you are not within their standards. Be prepared to freeze in your truck during the winter and sweating your butt off during the summer to cut down on idle time. I do get home every weekend, which is the only good thing about the company. I'm going to leave for a driving job that gets me home daily and no weekends.

I appericate the advice, I dread it like hell, but their my only option, I can tough out the B.S, I just don't want to be brought up their on false pretenses, and get sent home

They did just get new trucks in, so I guess that's a positive.

Stars insurance is the reason. the trainers were releasing the triness beofre the trainness could get everything that they needed to learn

Insurance may be the reason, and some trainers were bad. I can tell horror storys about my first trainer there. One night while I was in the sleeper, the truck hitting the rumble strips woke me up. I opened the curtian and he was eating fried chicken and mash potatoes, while driving down Jellico Mountian. He refused to wiegh loads. He wouldn't get repairs down to trailers because we didn't have time. After the first 2 weeks of too many things to mention here, as well as lack of sleep due to fear, I ask for a different one. He was still with the company when I left and to the best of my knowledge still training. My second trainer was great. I still talk to him daily. He told me that he told safety several of his trainee's didn't have what it takes to drive a truck, and Star put them in trucks anyway. One guy that he DID NOT PASS and got his own truck rolled it less than 2 weeks going solo. He told me that not one time did Star listen to him, and driver's he failed got their own truck. Blaming it on the trainers if not a lie, is down right misleading.

STAY AWAY FROM STAR. Get a refresher course. There are too many GOOD companies out there to take a hit and drive for them.
