my uncle used to drive for star about 4 years ago. do your self a favor and look somewhere else.
-
Yes, you can definetely do better than Star.
-
I used to work for Star and they are keeping me from being able to get a job elsewhere by putting crap on my DAC report.
-
I have been with Star for 2 years now and I have no complaints with them what so ever.
But let me start by saying that all trucking companies are the pretty much the same. The grass is not greener on the other side or there would be a waiting list at some companies for drivers. If you know of any OTR trucking companies that have one please let me know.
I get a new truck every year, get layover pay, 2500 - 3000, get home almost every week, Good Dispatcher, and Star does not go out west.
It's the same at every other company..Your attitude will be the factor if a company is good or not. -

Hi I have a few questions about Star Transport out of Morton, IL as I would like to drive for them after I get my CDL. From what little I have read on here people dont seem to like them for whatever reason.
Anyways on their website it says that our "drivers recieve training in-house before going on the road" Just how much training are they talking about? I thought if you have your CDL already that you would just head out with a trainer after orientation?
On the website under 'Drivers' it says 6 to 8 week training program. Does that include time with the trainer? Also it mentions that "drivers recieve hazardous materials training along with other special DOT training". Do they require the Hazmat endorsment? The driver requirements on their site are a little vague.
I know they were with Driver Solutions not long ago and they had some information about them but they must have stopped doing that now as I dont see them listed on there anymore. How much do they pay per mile? Average length of haul? How well maintained is their equipment? Do they let you bring the truck home or do you have to leave it at the Terminal?
Thanks a lot for any help you can give me,as i'm sure I will have other questions. -
I just heard from drivers solutions, and they just offered me a job with Star , I had already went with PAM but now i dont know which one to pick . Well sir, not speaking for all parties let go but have you ever heard the term "cover up". And your right they should clean house starting with starbrite " ms. Car" all the way up. The three let go where liked by 80% plus of drivers and the customers and vendors had a good working relationship with those three. Now the customer base has to deal with a cook that is not liked by anyone you hear it on the cb i'm sure, i do. The big boy himself is not liked down the line. Star could be a great company! Could have been not now with people treated like numbers and being lied to. If given the chance the 3 gone could have turned things around, but s.b. Ms car made the big boy believe things that were not true!! It is a true same star could have been a top notch company, i truely believe that.

Driver all I can tell you is you can't rely on what another driver says about a company. What works for that driver might not work for you and vice versa there are people that love Covenant Trans.out of Chattanooga,Tn when I worked for this company I use to cry going down the road because I didnt want to work at Covenant anymore Besides Covenant,Swift is the wost company I have ever had the displeasure of working for
